Happy Pride Month!
June is Pride Month and celebrated each year to honor the Stonewall Uprising, which took place on June 28, 1969 in Manhattan and was a turning point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Initially, the last Sunday in June was celebrated as "Gay Pride Day" but the "day" soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events. Today, Pride Month celebrations include parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia, and concerts and attract millions of participants around the world. Learn more about Pride Month.

This year the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will celebrate by sending an email each Monday highlighting LGBTQ+ pioneers. Pride Month will culminate with a trivia quiz where one winner will be selected from each campus. The celebration kicked off on Friday with a flashback to the national recognition of Mercer's Medical Student Pride Alliance (MSPA) group. Read the email here
