August was a month of cocooning and catching up on the home and office front. No travel, at least that was my intention. By yearend, I will have given nearly 70 SCHMETZ classes either in-person or virtually. I’m jazzed that people want to know more about needles. I love giving SCHMETZ classes especially when attendees share their "aha" moments when the perceived mystery of sewing machine needles is unveiled.
During my time off, I unexpectedly took a trip to the Denver area to celebrate my birthday with family and friends. After a yearlong request for a reservation at Casa Bonita Denver, my sister received an invite to use it by month's end. Lucky for me, she booked a table during my birthday week. What a treat! As a kid, I remember the excitement when my parents took my sister and I to the iconic pink venue. The newly rejuvenated Casa Bonita did not disappoint. The whole Casa Bonita evening was delightful with cliff divers, food, (including their famed sopaipillas), a live Mariachi band, and a spirit of magical fun shared by everyone. After a week in Colorado, I’m feeling reenergized, focused, and ready to go. Will I see you in a SCHMETZ class yet this year? I hope so. Let’s sew!
