Daylight Saving "Fall Back"

It's almost time to “fall back” as Daylight saving time comes to an end this Sunday, November 5, 2023. Remember to set your clocks back an hour before going to bed this Saturday night (or at 2:00 AM on Sunday). This means you get an extra hour of sleep that night!

La Colonia Park Tot Lot Construction

The City is excited to announce the beginning of our next major Tot Lot renovation project! Construction for the La Colonia Tot Lot replacement project is scheduled to begin Monday, November 20th. During construction, the existing playground will be closed and there may be construction noise throughout the workday. The main construction access to the job site will be on Stevens Avenue just south of the bus stop at the south end of the park. The main components of the project will consist of new playground equipment, rubberized safety surface, lighting, picnic tables, seating, site furnishings, landscaping and irrigation. The project is expected to be completed just before Memorial Day in May 2024.

San Diego County Sheriff's Department

Gun Safety Event 

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is partnering with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office and Carlsbad Police Department to get unwanted guns off our streets. Join them for a Gun Safety Event this Saturday, November 4th, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Encinitas City Hall (505 South Vulcan Avenue, Encinitas). Turn in your unwanted gun and receive a gift card ($100 for handguns, rifles and shotguns and $200 for assault weapons and ghost guns). There are no questions asked and participants will remain anonymous

Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society's

Annual Holiday Boutique

The Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society (SBC&HS) has been working all year to create wonderful items for the 70th Annual Holiday Boutique. This year’s Holiday Crafts Boutique opens at 9 AM this Saturday, November 4th at the La Colonia Community Center at 715 Valley Avenue. Come early to snag many one-of-a-kind treasures hand-made by their fabulous Crafts Group throughout the year. You'll find quilts, ornaments, art works and attire, as well as wood-works, pottery and jewelry. This annual tradition showcases the many talents of the SBC&HS Crafts Group and is their biggest fundraiser of the year.

Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Please join the City and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5431 for the 2023 Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 11th. The ceremony will take place from 11:00 AM until noon at La Colonia Park. Highlights of the celebration include The Camp Pendleton Young Marines as Color Guard, “Feathers from Heaven” Doves, the Santa Fe Christian School Band, and a special guest speaker who will address the community. City dignitaries will join and honor representatives from all branches of the Armed Forces at the ceremony.

Climate Action Plan Update Workshop #2

Join the City and the Climate Action Commission for the second workshop in support of the Climate Action Plan (CAP) Update on Wednesday, November 15th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at La Colonia Community Center (715 Valley Avenue). The purpose of the second workshop is to present greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies that will help the City reach their targets for 2035 and 2045. This workshop will include a presentation on the City's CAP Update, followed by facilitated small-group discussions to gather input from the public. Don't miss this opportunity to share your ideas and help address equity to build a more resilient community.

Newest City Hall Gallery Exhibition

"Consciousness: Making the Unseen Seen"

Prepare to be enchanted by the vibrant and colorful world of California-based life photography artist and portrait creator, Patti Andre. The City's newest City Hall Gallery exhibit "Consciousness: Making the Unseen Seen" is a treasure trove of visual delight, encompassing an array of genres, each brimming with captivating subjects and creativity. Her unique approach to digital image processing, composition, and ease with subjects continues to set her work apart from others. Join the City and the Public Arts Commission on Saturday, November 18th from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM, to celebrate the opening of Patti Andre's first solo exhibit.

Solana Beach Community Senior Center

November Events

Are you ready to make some new friends, get involved in service opportunities, travel, grow through educational opportunities, be entertained, and enjoy some delicious lunches? The Solana Beach Community Senior Center is full of great activities and events this November, including their Book Club on November 8th, Memory Cafe on November 9th, and Candy Packing Party on November 15th. In addition, join other members of the Senior Center for a Coastal Cruise on Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam from San Diego to Vancouver, BC. This cruise is loads of fun and the price is unbelievable!
