MEMBER MOMENT
This past Wednesday was a very special day. It would have been my mother’s 65th birthday. It was a day to reflect on this beautiful woman who had a beautiful life. Although she wasn’t in my life for long, she will always be a part of me in a very special place, my heart. The thing about my mother is like most mothers, the love she had for her children was immense. Her smile and laugh were infectious and many would say that is one of many things I have of hers.
It’s never easy losing a parent. All the changes that a daughter or son go through after losing either a father or mother, is hard enough. The feelings that we go through and understanding the grieving process is rough. Some days it’s still so hard to believe. To process. To
understand. I’m not sure I ever will.
I see her in every gorgeous sunset, in the splendor of the brightest stars in the sky. I like to think that she is proud of me. I hope she knows that I am so proud of who she was and I aspire to be someone so loved, strong, influential, and beautiful. Mom, I miss you so much that there are no words to describe the loss I feel every day. You were a gift from somewhere and they wanted you back. I don’t blame them because you were truly a blessing. You will never be forgotten. I miss you every day and I will never forget the mom that is now my guardian angel. Rest easy Mom.

SEARCH COMMITTEE AND VESTRY UPDATE
Thanks to everyone who completed a Vestry & Search Committee survey!
Your enthusiastic and generous support of Grace Church is appreciated.
A majority of those responding felt a rector in a 3/4 time position would best serve the needs of our congregation. Here is the survey tally: (Some chose more than one option)
15 -- 1/2 time position
1 -- Either 1/2 or 3/4 time
17 -- 3/4 time position
4 -- Either 3/4 or full-time
2 -- Full time
At its April meeting, the Vestry considered the pledge increase commitments and formulated a compensation package based on the hours per week supported by the congregation for the Search Committee to use when they submit the OTM Portfolio to the Diocese.

OUTREACH NEWS
HELP UKRAINIAN FAMILIES
According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), over 2 million people have already fled the war in Ukraine to other parts of Europe. Please help Episcopal Relief & Development to supply needed items for displaced families and individuals in response to this crisis.
Grace Church will be sending money to ERD for Ukraine. If you wish to contribute, send or drop off a check to Grace marked for Ukraine.
DUBUQUE RESCUE MISSION
The Dubuque Rescue Mission is an important organization that Grace Church supports with part of our Outreach funds. We would like you to know a little about this important ministry that plays a crucial role in supporting the homeless and hungry. Their mission statement is: "In the name of Jesus, the Dubuque Rescue Mission is a community offering hospitality, spiritual hope, food, shelter, clothing and job development to those in need."
The DRM offers help to the needy by providing over 200 meals/day and overnight shelter for up
to 45 men. This winter was especially difficult because of COVID restrictions and rules. The emotional toll of the pandemic was high for everyone involved there and especially for those who already struggle with mental illness and substance abuse. There was a need to even open the dining hall after the evening meal to men, who would otherwise be left out in the winter cold, and allow them to sleep
on a mat on the floor. We thank the Lord for places like this and gratefully support them.
