IPS Invites Students to Apply for Summer Program
We are thrilled to announce that IPS is now accepting applications for our pilot program to be held July 5-July 29 in Vienna, Va.
IPS invites applicants from the ages of 18-30 to apply for the 4-week pilot program, which offers a career exploration opportunity in the trade of carpentry. Our approach to trade education focuses on differentiated learning, safety education and workplace preparedness. During the summer program, students will learn basic carpentry skills as well as workplace readiness lessons to prepare for future employment. The pilot program allows the IPS team to test out our blended curriculum of hard and soft skill instruction and gather data on best practices in order to launch our full-year carpentry program in the fall of 2023.
Our online application, which is open from May 19-June 3, contains questions aimed at gathering information about a student's educational background, diagnosis, educational needs as well as strengths and/or challenges. We ask that all application questions be answered by the applicant themselves, not by a parent/guardian. After reviewing all applications, the IPS team will contact selected applicants in early June to schedule in-person assessments with a licensed occupational therapist to evaluate a prospective student's ability to participate in the pilot program. Selected applicants will be notified starting in mid-June.
There is no registration fee for the application but we ask you to consider supporting our program with a donation to IPS. Please forward this email newsletter to anyone you think who may be interested. Click here or the button above to access the application.
