The City of Thorold observed National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with a week of reflection, which began with a ceremonial flag raising at City Hall on Sept. 26
Dressed in orange, Councillors and City Staff were joined at the ceremony by Michele-Elise Burnett, President of Kakekalanicks, a local organization passionate about bringing all nations together to learn, share and celebrate the diversity, creativity, resilience and vitality of First Nations, Métis and Inuit populations.
Municipal buildings will be closed on Sept. 30, 2022 in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Regular business hours will resume on Oct. 3, 2022.

City staff support Niagara Children's Centre with smile cookies
City of Thorold staff purchased and delivered smile cookies to staff at City Hall, the fire departments and the community arena
“We’re grateful to Tim Hortons owners within the city of Thorold for recognizing the important services we provide to the community,” said Oksana Fisher, CEO, Niagara Children’s Centre. “Fundraisers, like Smile Cookies, help our organization bridge the gap between community demand and provincial funding, reducing wait lists for vital therapy and supports.”
Wellness stalls make their way to #ThoroldON
What is a Wellness stall?
A Wellness stall features a motivational message about mental health on the back of the stall door. Children and youth under 18 can scan the QR code to be directed to Pathstone's walk-in clinics, open Monday through Friday, as well as the Crisis and Support line services, where mental health help is offered 24/7 at no cost.
We are happy to be featuring Pathstone Mental Health's Wellness stall series in many of our washrooms accross #ThoroldON, including:
