Update on COVID policy

The Board has approved using updated guidance from CovidActNow (covidactnow.org), based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, using metrics that rely on the number of cases plus the number of hospitalizations for determining the level of community risk in a given area.

Essex County is currently in the mid/yellow range; 311 cases per 100,000 reported weekly and 6.8 hospital admissions per 100,000 per week. In terms of number of cases we’re over the threshold at 200. In terms of hospitalizations, we’re under the threshold 10. If we exceed 10 hospitalizations per week, per 100,000 people, we will discontinue an in-person option for Sunday Services until the numbers return to below the threshold.

The thinking behind this is that we’re in a much different place now with vaccinations and the availability of treatment. Many people who have been vaccinated are getting COVID but those cases have been mild for the most part. We will maintain our current practices of requiring masks and proof of vaccination. So, our policy won’t change, but the metrics we use for making decisions about meeting in-person are shifting.

"The Journey" A Bridging Service

Join us in uplifting and celebrating the bridging of one of our youth, Abby Ruggles, as she sets off on a journey into college and young adulthood. In this service we will contemplate the thresholds of life and how we as members of a congregation can provide blessings, advice of direction but cannot make the journey itself for bridging youth. In this service we gift our support and encouragement to Abby and send her off with wind in her sails.
