The City of Greater Sudbury - News and Updates

A Message From the Mayor

On November 11, we observe two minutes of silence to honour all members of the Canadian Armed Forces who lost their lives so that we may live freely in Canada today.

Remembrance Day is a profoundly significant day in our country. It is a time to remember the sacrifices of veterans and recognize the contributions of the courageous individuals who continue to serve our country in times of war, conflict and peace.

I encourage everyone to wear a poppy and attend a commemoration service in honour and recognition of all those who served, and continue to serve and protect our freedom.

Lest We Forget.

Mayor Paul Lefebvre

Budget 2024-2025

Residents are asked to share their priorities on City services, programs and projects as part of the budget process. Comments on the City’s first multi-year budget will be received until November 8, 2023.

Significant decisions are being made about the services community members count on daily – from pothole filling and clearing snow to paramedic response, collecting waste, and so much more. Resident feedback is an important factor for consideration as these decisions are being made.

The proposed budget, along with the results of resident feedback, will be shared with the Finance and Administration Committee at its November 15, 2023, meeting, before budget deliberations take place in December.

For more information and to complete the survey, visit https://overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca/budget-2024-2025 or call 311.

Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony

Join Mayor Lefebvre and members of Council for a short and festive ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, December 1, in the courtyard of Tom Davies Square.

Check Out the Sudbury Market This Holiday Season

The Sudbury Market has moved indoors to Elm Place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until May 25, 2024.

Some highlights of the new location include free three-hour parking, outdoor street-level parking (west side) beside the mall, enhanced security and volunteers, unique local vendors and weekly entertainment.

The One and the Only, Beautiful Fireball!

November’s Animal of the Month is Fireball, named after her fiery reaction to seeing other cats.

She is a gorgeous shorthair cat, around three years old. This girl must be the only kitty in the home as she prefers to be the centre of attention. As long as she is not in the presence of other cats, Fireball is very sweet and affectionate. She loves attention and just wants to be around her people.

If you’re interested in Fireball, please reach out to the shelter at 705-694-7387 or submit an application online.
