Dear Fellow Creatives,

I'm between travels right now, and grateful for the gentle warmth of the sun as summer approaches. Today the beach sand was just perfect for creating a labyrinth and I made more than one journey through the labyrinth, knowing that when I return this evening it will have been erased by the water.
While in South Africa last month, I explored a couple of labyrinths in the Western Cape, including this one-of-a-kind labyrinth in the town of Prince Albert in the Karoo. This labyrinth was created by calligraphy artist, Heleen de Haas and she calls it a word labyrinth. The words "Alpha" and "Omega" form the path of the labyrinth.

As you can see from these two photographs, even looking at different labyrinth patterns can evoke different feelings.
Creative Inspiration for You
I was asked how I use the images from my Vintage Journal Imagery books so I made a 10 minute video showing one way of using the images to make cards to send to friends. They make fun birthday cards. You can view the free video below. Playful creativity is one of the ways I calm my nervous system. The other is walking on the beach!
If you want to make your own cards, you can use copies of photographs you might have of your own relatives. If you want to use the images in my books you can purchase them on Amazon:
I'll be creating more videos in the future with more ways to create stationary and gift items using the images.

If you don't have a stash of old books or letters to use as backgrounds, I have collated a collection of papers for you to use. Each collection contains 30 pages from 15 different vintage books. The cost is $6.50 including shipping. You can order these here.
"The gift of the times you sit in, humanity at a crossroads,
is the gift of the unknown, the unseen, the unprepared for.

"How can I prepare for a future, when all I have trusted
and believed in seems to be falling away?"

You say yes to the uncertain moment.
You agree that the path before you will be lit as you walk it,
and not a moment before."

I am offering two more retreats in 2022 - one in July and one in August. Then I'll be taking a couple of months off from teaching to let some new projects percolate. These upcoming retreats will give you creative inspiration that will keep you going for the rest of the year. They are intended as self-care and soul-care retreats. I hope you'll join me.

Love and blessings,
Catherine
2022 RETREATS
Visual Journal
as Sanctuary for the Soul:
July 24-28, 2022
at St Francis Springs Retreat Center in Stoneville, NC

A visual journal is a space where you can listen to your Soul. It is a container for whispers from your unconscious. It is a place to play with color, with shape, and with images and patterns that are calling to you. It is a breathing space where you explore the mysterious territory of your inner world. As we play on the pages of our journal the longings of our soul become visible.

All supplies are included. You will receive a book of imagery and a kit of creative supplies to open up to this gentle way of listening to your soul.

Exploring the Ebb & Flow
of Life with SoulCollage®
and the Labyrinth
August 11-14, 2022
at St Francis Springs Retreat
Center in Stoneville, NC

The waves of the ocean breathe with their natural rhythms of ebb and flow, of flowing forward, letting go and returning to source . How can we honor our own unique natural rhythm? How can we find a balance between inner and outer nourishment?

In this retreat we will explore these questions, using SoulCollage® and the Labyrinth to deepen our understanding of the natural rhythms around us, and to explore ways to create flow and ease in our daily lives as we consider living in a more cyclical way.
