Celebrating 10 years in 2024, SuperSpeed Golf is primed for its most exciting year yet! In the next few months, SuperSpeed Golf will be releasing its state of the art App! The SuperSpeed App will not only deliver SuperSpeed’s cutting-edge protocols, but will also offer progress tracking, peer comparison in speed gains, a vast library of content, and detailed instruction on how to get the most out of speed training.

The PGA of BC is pleased to allow limited access to Golf Retail Buyers (non-member facilities) at the 2024 PGA of BC Fall Trade Show. A maximum of four (4) badges may be purchased for each retailer at a cost of $75.00 per badge. We regret to inform that due to the sensitivity of the information obtained at the Show, no access will be granted to the General Public without prior approved credentials. Non-member Golf Retail Buyers can register here.

Based on our vendor’s feedback from our 2023 show, the Association is pleased to re-introduce early move-in scheduling for our Sponsors and Preferred Partners attending the 2024 Fall Trade Show. Originally scheduled to begin at 2PM PT, we are excited to announce that early move-in will now begin at 12PM PT (noon) on Monday, October 28 thanks to our incredible partners, Show in Motion and the River Rock Casino Resort. If you are eligible for the early move-in scheduling, you will receive an additional email from the PGA of BC in early October. All other attending vendors will receive move-in details from the Association for the general move-in time, starting at 2PM PT. A kind reminder that all vendor move-in must be completed on Monday, October 28.

Based on the positive feedback from the PGA of BC’s membership, the Association is seeking vendor participation in the returning draw prize programming to take place during our 2024 Fall Trade Show. We thank all vendors who contributed prizing to last year’s draw. Participating in this program provides vendors additional brand exposure, not only by way of the prize itself (and the draw presentation), but also through additional logo placement in our Trade Show Brochure, signage, and pre-event communications via our website, social media channels, and E-News.

Christine Wong (University Golf Club) won the 2024 Vancouver Open Women's title, emerging victorious on the first playoff hole.

Wong finished the three-round tournament at 6-under par, tied with amateur Sonja Tang as the top female competitor. Wong defeated Tang on the first playoff hole to win her fourth Vancouver Open Women's title, having also won in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Wong's fourth victory adds to her record at the event as the only woman to win multiple titles.

Amateur Jace Minni was the overall champion, finishing the tournament at 13-under par to defeat 2022 champion Ilirian Zalli by one shot.

PGA of BC members are encouraged to register for the upcoming Coach of New Competitors workshop, taking place October 16-17 at University Golf Club in Vancouver.

This two day workshop is designed for coaches working with players who are beginning the competition phase of their golf experience, either at a club or regional level and focus on the difference between instruction and coaching. This workshop will involve a mandatory pre-workshop e-learning component, a two day in-person component and an optional post-workshop evaluation. The workshop will run between 8:30am PT - 5:00pm PT each day.

The Lower Mainland's G&G Tour hosted their latest tournament at Chilliwack Golf Club on August 26. Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) earned the win, shooting 65 to finish at 7-under par. Jacob Vanderpas (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) and Mewail Kidane (Pacific Golf Academy) tied for second, with each competitor shooting 67.

The Vancouver Island Club Pro Tour competed at Cordova Bay Golf Course on August 13. Jake Scarrow (Gorge Vale Golf Club) took the victory in commanding fashion with an impressive 64 (-8), which included an eagle on the par-5 18th. Kevin Maxwell (Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community) earned runner-up honours, shooting a 2-under 70, while Arthur Brown (Storey Creek Golf Club) and Lucas Nonni (Bear Mountain Resort) shared third place at 71.

The Westland Insurance Interior PGA Tour held a tournament at Fairview Mountain Golf Club on August 12. Sharing the victory after both shooting 67 (-5) were Rob Tadey (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) and Lionel Taylor (Monte's Golf Shop). Ethan Danish (GOLFTEC Kelowna) earned second place, finishing one shot off the lead with a 68. Alec Hubert (Kamloops Golf & Country Club) shot 69 to round out the top three.

The Kootenay Pro Tour took on Bootleg Gap Golf on August 26. Trevor Simkins (Bootleg Gap Golf), Doug Schneider (Shadow Mountain Golf Course) and Chase Bodoano (The Springs at Radium) tied after 18 holes with scores of 71. Simkins won the first playoff hole with a tap-in birdie. Gregg Woytowich (Purcell Golf), Jerome Thorne (Eagle Ranch Resort) and Jamie Curiston (Wildstone Golf Course) tied for fourth place at even par.
