We are honored to present
the 2022 BSLA Design Awards Jury.
Please join us in welcoming guest jury chair, James Lord, FASLA.

The pandemic's virtual meeting practices have enabled us to fulfill a longtime goal, and that is to bring an internationally recognized landscape architecture voice to this jury -- an esteemed voice from outside of the chapter. James Lord, FASLA, is a founding partner of Surfacedesign, Inc., based in San Francisco, California. We're grateful for the fresh perspective he brings as well as his skill in a wide range of project types, renown for both sustainability and craft -- private residential gardens to community college campuses, urban waterfronts to corporate headquarters to neighborhood play spaces -- collectively garnering the 2017 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Landscape Architecture. James also brings local ties as a 1996 MLA graduate of and occasional guest critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Please help us welcome James Lord virtually back to Boston. James, we hope to welcome you in person, soon, too!

We are also pleased to continue a few of the other changes that we introduced last year, including inviting the winner of last year's BSLA Award of Excellence for Student work to this jury. Please join us in offering a special hello to Minzhi Lin, Student ASLA.

Our entire jury brings a wealth of experience and expertise in a range of practice types and approaches. We're delighted to include in this jury individuals from the academy, from the public sector, and from architecture and development, too. This jury was selected for the variety of scales, geographies, and ways in which they work; together, they create a unique and extraordinary cross section of landscape architecture practice in our region today.

All jurors generously volunteer their time in this process.

Thank You to every one of the incredible individuals of the 2022 BSLA Design Awards Jury:

The jury may also award Special Recognitions.

Landscape architects and students based in the BSLA Chapter area — Massachusetts and Maine — are eligible to submit project sited anywhere in the world.
