Drivers Reminded: "Speeding Catches Up With You"

In support of Illinois Speed Awareness Day 2024, the Illinois Tollway joined with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Transportation and other local law enforcement agencies and safety groups to remind drivers that “Speeding Catches Up With You.”


Speed limits on the Illinois Tollway are in place to protect everyone who uses our roads and those working on our roads.

WTS Greater Chicago Leadership Panel Features Board Director Karen McConnaughay

Illinois Tollway Executive Director Cassaundra Rouse helped welcome attendees to the “Lessons in Leadership” panel discussion hosted by WTS Greater Chicago. The panel featured Tollway Board Director Karen McConnaughay and Will County CEO Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and was moderated by former Illinois House Rep. Julie Hamos. McConnaughay and Bertino-Tarrant, both who served two terms in the Illinois Senate, discussed how their experiences in public service help shape their perspectives on addressing the challenges of the regional transportation industry and meeting future transportation demands.

Hispanic Chamber Matchmaking Connects Small And Diverse Businesses To Future Opportunities

Are we a match? Illinois Tollway leadership participated in a matchmaking and networking event in Chicago hosted by the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to connect small and diverse firms with opportunities to work with primes, the Tollway and other agencies. Tollway Acting Chief of Diversity and Strategic Development Marlene Vick and Chief of Procurement Peter Foernssler met one-on-one with a series of small business owners in construction and professional engineering services to discuss their capabilities to work on Tollway projects.

Sharing Best Practices At IBTTA Workshop To Drive Roadway Safety, Sustainability And Innovation 

We’re always engaged in sharing best practices with our peers in the transportation industry so we can provide safe, efficient travel for our customers. The recent IBTTA Maintenance, Engineering and Roadway Operations Workshop provided Illinois Tollway Deputy Chief of Traffic and Incident Management Steven Mednis the opportunity to meet with IBTTA President Bill Halkias, CKL Engineers CEO Mae Whiteside and other transportation industry professionals to discuss roadway safety, sustainability and innovation to keep our roads and bridges in a state of good repair while ensuring the safety of everyone on our roads.
