Geese Beware: Living shoreline here to stay!


The Cutts Cove restoration, a salt marsh restoration project that began in 2017, dealt with a setback when the vegetation planted had been feasted on by migrating Canada Geese. NHDES and project partners sprung into action to keep the project alive.

Stream crossing assessments ramp up

There are over 20,000 road crossings comprised of culverts and bridges that intersect New Hampshire’s rivers, streams and wetlands. Over the summers of 2022 and 2023, UNH teams assessed over 4,000 of them – compared to previous assessment efforts that accomplished 100 to 300 per year.

2024 New Hampshire 4th Grade Drinking Water Festival and Water Science Fair

May 8, 2024 | 9 AM

New Hampshire schools may participate in one or all! At the Festival, fourth-grade students will spend the day learning about water quality, conservation, pollution, technology and many other water-related topics. The festival and science fair are free to registered schools and will take place in Plymouth, NH. Registration deadline: January 31.
