THINGS WE ARE LOVING
We use this section of the newsletter to share resources that have been helpful to our race equity journey. Within our internal race equity discussions, we discuss the difficult work of moving equity from theory to practice, confronting racism within friendships and families, and our continued progress from allyship to trusted co-conspirators. Trusted co-conspirators are those who choose to take action against racism regardless of the consequences.

POLICY AND ADVOCACY
Congratulations to the four Norwalk schools that were chosen as winners of the Voice4Change Initiative, which provided students the opportunity to lead and take part in the decision-making process on how the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funds are spent within their schools. The Connecticut Department of Education selected Norwalk High School, P-TECH Norwalk, Brien McMahon High School, and Center for Global Studies as winners based on their proposals to impact the school’s community.

Norwalk ACTS had the opportunity to engage, convene and provide the students and educators guidance and resources to create their proposals. This student-led initiative highlighted the importance of collective impact and elevating youth voice.

Below are the NPS winners and themes:

Brien McMahon High School: McMahon's Mighty Battle: Students Promote Mental Health

Center for Global Studies: Fencing Program

Norwalk High School: Bears Unite

P-TECH Norwalk: Week of Wellness
