Visiting Bohol
Greetings!
I thank God for the opportunity to visit Bohol in Central Visayas and see the work of the Lord there. I was assisted and accompanied by our Regional Coordinator Melvin Caindoy and other friends there.
Pastor Melvin and I went to Camp Karis to see the progress of repairing and reconstructing the facilities that were severely damaged by typhoon Odette. They lost electrical power in December and it was restored only in May! I’m happy to report that the staff is doing a great job and the Camp is now accepting guests and hosting events. This photo summarizes the situation at Camp Karis. Many of the trees that used to provide shade had to be cut down or trimmed but new leaves are coming out; the yard has been cleared of debris; the roofs of most of the buildings have been rebuilt or repaired. Please continue to pray for the staff as they continue to rebuild, repair, and improve the camp facilities.
We went to the tiny village of Alumar on Mahanay Island in Getafe, Bohol to visit Pastor Rogelio Palma (below, left), a pastor who finished CCI training in 2016. All the houses on the island were totally destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December. The whole church building was blown away except for the concrete floor (below right, in foreground). When we arrived, we found Pastor Rogelio and a few members of the church constructing a temporary shelter so they can worship on Sundays. Please pray that the Lord will provide construction materials for this project and that the church will be an effective witness to the community of 700 households on the island.
We also went to visit Pastor Junuel and Pastor Reysen on Banacon Island in northern Bohol. Pastor Junuel is a graduate of CCI and his Associate Pastor Reysen is still a student. Their church building was wrenched off its foundation by typhoon Odette and only the concrete floor and pillars were left and the houses were in knee-deep water. These two men and some of their members are now reconstructing the church building. Some generous people gave them a fishing boat which they are now using to haul construction materials from the mainland. Please pray that that they will be able to bring the Gospel to the 355 households on the island.
We appreciate your prayers and support.

Staff Update
The Coordinators of Luzon staff had their monthly team meeting to plan the Teachers’ Conference, which was subsequently held on May 21st.

We held our 3rd Teachers' Conference in May with David Nelson teaching a survey on the Book of Colossians. All feedback from the participants was positive. 52 people attended from all over the Philippines

Christian Brethren Community Church in Bacolod City, which is being pastored by Area Coordinator Anthony Syjuco, baptized 16 members in two Sundays in May. Pastor Syjuco was assisted by a CCI student who is being trained to be an elder of the church.

Leo Candole, our newly-appointed Area Coordinator in Western Visayas, immediately went to work promoting CCI training in Kabankalan City, Binalbagan, and Iloilo City. He expects to be able to start classes in June. He is pictured on the right of the above photo.
Two new classes were started in Bukidnon by Pastor Val Abellanosa. Pictured above is the class at Salimbal Fundamental Baptist Church in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon. Please pray for the students to be competent and attentive as diligent study is required.
Graduations
Twenty-five students graduated in Santa Rosa City, Laguna in May. These students are from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, and Hong Kong as well. They were mentored by Pastor Eloi Cabillan before and even during the pandemic. Two of these graduates are hosting and helping teach CCI classes in their respective churches.
Testimony From a CCI Graduate
Pastor Yong used to work for a construction company as a maintenance mechanic, but resigned from his job in order to go into the ministry. He did not have the money to go to a Bible school, so he studied and read books on his own. Finally, someone decided to pay for his pastoral studies and so he was able to undergo CCI training. He graduated in 2016 and has established three outreaches since then. Pastor Yong (picture above, on left with guitar) teaches the Bible to small groups of people six days a week. He also trains young people in his church to do the same. Pastor Yong is planning to start a CCI equipping class in the near future.
Prayer Requests & Praises

●    Please pray that the pandemic will finally end. Praise God that He has sustained and expanded the ministry of CCI in spite of and by means of the pandemic.
●     Please pray for the health of our staff especially Pastor Manny Gocon. Please pray also for his sister Jeanette who is now under palliative care in Melbourne. May the Lord remind Jeanette that He is walking with her right now and loves her, no matter what she is going through. Also, pray for Manny and his family; may He give them strength as they journey with their loved one through this illness.
