biden administration releases fiscal year 2024 budget request
|
The Biden Administration released its $6.9 trillion fiscal year (FY) 2024 budget request, outlining its fiscal priorities. Among the provisions included, the budget proposes $73 billion for HUD programs and approximately $1.4 billion in new mandatory spending for various housing production, capital investment, eviction prevention, and targeted voucher programs.
Notably, the budget includes NCHSA and CHFA’s top priorities that historically have been included in the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act including:
- Increasing the Housing Credit cap; and
- Lowering the financed by bond threshold from 50% to 25%.
In addition, the budget proposes that Congress pass the Neighborhood Home Investment Credit to promote the construction and rehabilitation of affordable owner-occupied housing in distressed neighborhoods.

chfa first look for nonprofits: keeping colorado homes affordable
|
CHFA First Look is designed to help support affordable housing efforts by allowing community-based housing nonprofits the opportunity to purchase CHFA's foreclosed and other real estate owned (REO) single family homes in Colorado.
In addition to keeping single family homes in homeownership, the First Look program can stabilize neighborhoods by facilitating mission-driven agencies to purchase, rehabilitate, and resell the homes as affordable.
We have several nonprofits signed up to participate and have already completed some deals, including homes in:
- La Junta, which will be used to house patients from a nearby medical facility;
- Denver, which was placed in a Land Trust, keeping it affordable for the next 99 years; and
- San Luis Valley, which will become available as part of a single family affordable rental program.
