Band Students and Parents Wanted

Judy Nelson will teach instrumental music to Cherry Chase's students in Grades 3, 4 & 5 in After School Band, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:50 to 5:10pm. Band instruments include: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Alto Saxophone, Trombone and Percussion (drums and xylophone). 

To receive Band enrollment information, please fill out the Cherry Chase Band Interest Survey here. This survey will gauge interest for the Band and does not obligate you to enroll.

Upcoming events:

1. Online Band Information Meeting on Tue, Aug. 27 at 8pm ( Meeting Link)
2. Band Try It Session on Thu, Aug. 29 between 4:00-6:00pm (location TBD).

After School Program Preview

A preview of the after-school program schedule is now available here. A special eblast about program pricing, registration, and class dates will be sent on tomorrow ,Tuesday, Aug 27. Classes are scheduled to begin in mid-September. Enrollment opens on Thursday, Aug 29 2024.

Get Cleared to Volunteer 

As we gear up for another great year, please remember that all volunteers on campus must be cleared through the district annually. Here’s what you need to know:

• TB Clearance: Required and valid for 4 years. Ensure yours is up to date.
• New Volunteers: Start by filling out the application here.
• Returning Volunteers: Simply log in here using the "I already have a username" option to update your information. Your previous TB clearance is already on file.
• Fingerprinting: Only necessary if you plan to chaperone field trips or have one-on-one student contact.

Sign the PTA Waiver

A Liability Waiver is required for your child to participate in PTA-sponsored activities. This form must be filled out for every student annually. Fill it out today!

Project Cornerstone at Cherry Chase Elementary: Volunteer Opportunities

Project Cornerstone is back, and we're inviting parent volunteers to join our ABC Program as classroom readers or in lead roles. We'll read 7 books starting late September/early October.

Volunteer Roles:

1. In-Class Readers: TB-cleared volunteers read and discuss books in classrooms. Coordinate with co-readers and teachers.
2. Training Lead(s): Attend YMCA training, then train Cherry Chase readers via Zoom. (TB clearance not required unless also reading in-class.)
3. Volunteering Lead(s): Verify volunteer clearance from home. (No TB clearance needed unless reading in-class.)
4. Admin Lead/Co-Chair: Assist with program management, managing the book calendar, and organizing the ABC reader cabinet.

Fall Festival Leads Needed

Our annual Fall Festival, a much-loved event filled with games, costumes, pumpkins, and delicious food, is scheduled for Friday, October 25th. To ensure the success of this event, we're seeking volunteers to fill some key roles:

• Team Co-Coordinator (we need a 2nd): Assists area leads, coordinates efforts, and communicates with school staff.

• Core Planning Team: Looking for team members to help organize games and arrange food for the event along with the leads.

Members have a voice in how we support our school and our children. Attending meetings and volunteering is encouraged, but not required.
