IPS Families,

Today, we held our second of three lockdown drills at IPS for this school year.  For this specific drill, we practiced as if there was a situation outside of the building, and the suspect was in the area. We call this a “soft lockdown.” The doors are secure, no students outside of class, and no visitors in the building.

Ohio law requires us to have three lockdown drills per school year.  Independence Schools use the ALICE lockdown procedure, which stands for Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate.  Our staff had been trained along with the Independence Police Department.  Our School Resource Officer, Kevin Repicky, was with us during the drill.

Thanks,
