BOARD MEETING TOMORROW

Tuesday, May 17th at 5:30pm

William P. Clements Jr. Leadership Center (6900 Douglas Ave.)

At this Tuesday's meeting, HPISD’s literacy subcommittee is expected to provide updates on:

  • The selection of a third-party consultant to assist with the selection and implementation of new K-8 English Language Arts instructional materials
  • The timeframe for next steps and hopefully an understanding of what is planned for next year

It's very encouraging that HPISD has made the decision to phase out Lucy Calkins, but there is still work to be done. Please attend tomorrow's meeting to show continued support for improving literacy instruction in HPISD.

THANK YOU & SUMMER PLANS

The HP Literacy Coalition's (HPLC) Parent Leaders and Educational Advisory Team Members are thankful to each educator, parent, student, and community member who joined the movement to improve literacy instruction in HPISD this year. It was very encouraging to watch so many people work hard and come together around an important topic that impacts the life of every student. Thank you to everyone who got involved!

While school will soon break for the summer, HPLC Parent Leaders will continue to monitor how things are progressing and keep the community informed. The HPLC website, hpliteracycoalition.org, will be updated regularly over the summer and emails will be sent, if needed.

As always, questions or concerns can be submitted anytime through the website or directly by sending an email to hpliteracycoalition@gmail.com.
