"Inspiring students to love God, their Catholic faith and learning"

As the temperatures start to drop, please be mindful and send your student(s) to school dressed appropriately for the weather. When sending coats/pullovers, hats, and gloves, be sure to put your student's name on the tag so it does not get mistaken for someone else's. Daylight savings is Sunday, November 5th. There will be no shorts allowed from November 5, 2023 to March 10, 2024.

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences started Wednesday at 3:30PM and continue Thursday at 1:30PM. We will have early dismissal on Thursday at 1:30PM and NO school on Friday, October 27.

Please be mindful that not all early dismissal days are designated dress down days. Dress down days are always noted in the newsletter and on the school calendar be sure to check there first. When in doubt, dress in uniform.

Community Meal:

Service is the giving of one’s time and talent to support the life and ministry of the parish and the community. It is one of the four pillars of Stewardship, and was taught to us by Jesus through the greatest commandment to LOVE one another.

On Monday, November 27th the Faculty of St. Peter Catholic School will be hosting a community meal for those in need in our community. They will be preparing, serving, and delivering meals from the Monsignor Hoog kitchen and dining area. Our hope is to serve as many people as possible in person, but we also plan to deliver meals to various locations to those unable to reach our location.

We will be posting this information in a variety of places but welcome your assistance in spreading the word. If you are aware of places or people in need, please contact us so that we can include this in our service. If you would like to help us, we would like to have items available on site or create care packages to deliver with the meal. Needed items would include personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.

We will accept any additional monetary contributions, but we are having a dollar dress down day on Tuesday, October 31st to help support our day of service.

If you have questions about how to help please contact Mr. Veit at school 636-8922 ext. 242 or [email protected], or contact the school office staff.

Thank you for all your support!

Parade of Saints

On November 1, K-8 grade students may dress up as their favorite saints and participate in the Parade of Saints. Our goal is to showcase the sacred and encourage our students to aim for holiness by imitating the saints.

Students should come to school dressed in uniform for Mass that morning. Following Mass, we will return to school to allow students to change. Students will wear their costumes the rest of the day while at school. The ‘parade’ will be held in MLG starting at 9:30AM.  We can’t wait to see all the SAINTS!

Meet Our Staff

My name is Debbie Keller. This is my 14th year teaching at St. Peter in the Vogelweid Center. Before that, I taught in the public school system for several years. My husband, Dave, and I belong to St. Michael's Parish in Russellville. We have four children. My oldest son, Clay, and his wife expect our first grandchild in January. Curtis works for Lauf Equipment. Jake and Samantha are both attending UCM. Jake is getting a master's degree in music performance and Sam is getting a degree in early childhood education. I am very much an outdoor person. I enjoy hiking (my husband and I once backpacked up and down the Grand Canyon), canoeing, gardening, boating, or just relaxing on a patio. I love working with my students at St. Peter, and I feel very close to all of them.

From October 1-31, 2023, all shoppers at www.tinysaints.com will have the option to select St. Peter Catholic School from a dropdown menu during checkout to support our fundraiser for the seventh and eighth-grade retreats. With more than 200 saint charms and keychains at just $6.00 each, Tiny Saints offers simple, affordable gifts and collectibles that are guaranteed to bring a smile. Supporters can enjoy shopping for their favorite saints, patron saints, and even learn about others for the first time while browsing!

They make perfect stocking stuffers, and Confirmation and First Communion Gifts!

Dear St. Peter Families,

As a school, we are again participating in the Box of Joy Program sponsored by Cross Catholic Outreach.  There are three different ways you can support our goal of sending 200 boxes to children in Haiti, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Guatemala.

  1. Each grade level has signed up to gather specific items from the Gift List.  Families can donate items per grade level.  Homeroom teachers will send out this information soon.
  2. Pack a predesigned Box of Joy, shoebox, or plastic shoebox with a variety of items for a specific gender and age child. Donate $9 on the Box of Joy website.  Please use a rubber band to secure, not tape.
  3. Make a monetary donation to cover the $9 per box shipping cost to the Box of Joy website.  You can also send a check (made out to “Cross Catholic Outreach”) or cash to school in an envelope labeled “Box of Joy donation”.

Brochures will be sent home October 29th containing detailed information and gift ideas. Please contact Mrs. Garner if your family would like the predesigned box sent home.

Due Date: November 10th.

Please consider supporting these children who may have never received a Christmas Gift.  Many of these areas have recently been severely affected by natural disasters.  Thank you so much for your consideration, time, effort and prayers!

Please contact Sara Garner, School Counselor, if you have questions.

Catholic Stewardship Renewal

Due to printing delays beyond our control, our parish's Catholic Stewardship Renewal weekend has been pushed back to the weekend of November 18-19. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

The challenges, pressures, and many things on our schedules in our lives today often offer little opportunity for us to stop and reflect on our spirituality, our faith life. Small faith-sharing groups give us the time, the space, and the direction to reflect on our relationship with God and others; to reflect on how, through our time, talents and treasure, we can have an incredible impact in the lives of others and experience a life of purpose and meaning. Use the QR code or provided link, to sign up for small groups in our parish. Be sure to sign up by November 6th! If you have any questions or need help signing up, please contact the Stewardship Council at [email protected]

Living our Faith Through Service

Service is a public expression of our faith. It’s how we express our belief in God and live out Jesus’s teachings. With this month’s podcast, we conclude our four-part series with Fr. Stephen Jones about the Four Pillars of Stewardship — focusing on the concept of service.

This series is designed to help us deepen our understanding of the spirituality of stewardship as we approach the Catholic Stewardship Renewal in October.
