Welcome to Quilting News
March 2022
Message from Lisa
Hello to March and hopefully warmer weather. As I start this month off, I'm very excited to be hosting my 4th Quilt Retreat this year in Kill Devil Hills, NC with 20 ladies. We will leave on Sunday, March 6th and return on the 13th. So the Studio will be closed the week of the 7th. So I hope those of you not going with us will have a fun sew day at home during the week.

I wanted to shout out to a few ladies who have been sick for a little while or have had family issues. My sweet friends Delma, Merci and George. Know that our Daycare Group has missed you a lot and we Pray that God will heal each of you and your family members. If there are others, please let me know if we can help you in any way.

I also hope that many of you have been finishing projects that you have been working on. I have completed 4 projects so far this year. I'm taking a few more on retreat to hopefully add to the finish column. When I get back from retreat, I hope you plan on dropping some off at the studio. My buckets are empty so help me help you. There are a few of you who have a 10% discount you can still collect on. So now is a great time to do that! Or you can refer a new person to the Shining Star and each of you get a 10% discount,

Still looking for a few more people who want to participate in our block exchange. We have 3 and need 7 more. So come on and sign up. This is a fun project. I will be offering a few more classes very soon and will share when I have the samples made.

So until you see me in person, Keep on sewing and I will see you soon.

Lisa

Civil War Block Exchange
I just received a new book for Christmas called Quilt Club by Paula Barnes and Mary Ellen Robinson. There are some really nice quilts in there. I have been wanting to do another block exchange with friends. We haven't done one in about a year. So I'm looking to see who will be interested. The blocks finish at 6 x 6 inch. So they are not small. We WILL do Civil War fabrics of course. Looking to start in March and run through May. If we can get 10 people you will make 10 blocks each week for 5 weeks. The block is on the front of the book so you can take a look and let me know. We have 3, need 7 more.
The Loyal Union Sampler Sew Along
This will be a group driven block exchange. You MUST sign up to participate in the fabrics. Each person who signs up will cut a few blocks for the group. So you will need to have civil war fabrics to participate with the group. The blocks are 6 x 6 again. The book has over 121 different blocks, but we are going to just do about 50 or 60. The group will decide. We will start this one around September. Look for this book if you want to participate. We will again do this in Civil War fabrics. There will be a sign up board in the shop. If you need more details, just give me a call.
West Virginia Quilt Show
Several of us will be traveling back to Springfield, WVA in June for a quilt show. I have two spots left in a house, if you want to go. We are traveling June 14-18, 2022 and will be sewing and shopping and attending the quilt show. If you want info about this trip, call me for cost and details. Or you can make plans to attend the show while we are there.
Quilters Daycare Group
Quilter's Daycare s a Thursday sew group. We have more ladies joining us. So please make sure that you slide over and make room for everyone that wants to sew. We will have an overflow room in my old office if you would feel more comfortable in there away from the larger group. We want everyone to feel welcome and we have missed many of you. Your $5 covers your seat charge each Thursday. See you soon! Reminder the door opens at 9 am.
Thank You!
I now offer payment through Zelle (which is from your bank to mine) or VENMO. If you use one of these payments types, you can now pay me directly. Just inquire and I can give you my account info.

Please continue to bring a bag with your project when leaving it for quilting services!

See you soon! Trixie and Lisa
