Sixth Grade News
In math this week we discovered the formula for the area of a trapezoid, by using graph paper and our knowledge of parallelograms to investigate their relationship.

We first created two identical trapezoids. When we cut them out and put them together, we realized they made a parallelogram! We already knew that the area of a parallelogram was base x height from our knowledge of multiplication arrays! By working backwards, we were able to realize that the area of the trapezoid was half of the area of the parallelogram because congruent trapezoids created a parallelogram. The students were able to come up with the formula by themselves!
A= ((base 1 + base 2) h) /2 !
News from Kindergarten
It’s maple season in New Hampshire and the kindergarteners learned all about this long time New England tradition!

It takes warm days and cold nights for the sap to start moving within the sugar maple tree. Trees can be tapped and buckets or tubing hung to collect the sap. More than 40 gallons of sap will need to be gathered to make one gallon of maple syrup. Sap is boiled in the evaporator and filtered before it can be enjoyed on pancakes…yummmm!

In the photo the kids are pretending to be tapped maple trees in a maple sugar bush.

The Rapid Response Access Point, more commonly referred to as mobile crisis response, began 1-1-22 with very little fanfare.

Now, for 24/7 crisis support, someone simply calls the statewide Rapid Response Access Point number. This line provides over the phone support and problem solving by clinicians to help resolve a behavioral health crisis!

If the crisis cannot be resolved over the phone, a Mobile Crisis Response Team may be dispatched to wherever the individual is.
