Dear {First Name},

Last week, the Legislature and Governor finalized the New York State Budget which includes a $2B investment for child care this year. While it’s not the full $5B that we need, this is a big increase in funding to pay for important improvements towards better access for families and compensation for educators.

Thank you for writing letters, making phone calls, attending virtual rallies and delivering testimony — this would not have been possible without YOUR voice! Stay tuned as we plan to host a webinar and conversation about the budget in the coming weeks.

Read this week’s newsletter to learn more about how the New York State budget will impact child care and the latest updates at All Our Kin.

Sending our love, friendship and support.

Exploring Race and Representation in Picture Books

We're thrilled to partner with educators from The Eric Carle Museum for a virtual workshop exploring how to use picture books to provide “mirrors and windows” that reflect readers’ identities, and opens a world beyond their experiences. This two-part workshop will be held in English (with Spanish interpretations) and feature presentations from Carle educators, book sharing, and opportunities for discussion and reflection.

Participants will receive supporting materials, including supplemental readings, thematic book lists, and resources for building a more equitable, inclusive book collection. Certificates will be provided for 3 hours of professional development. Please register in advance for this series.
