Women's Equality Day

Women's Equality Day, observed on August 26th each year in the United States, commemorates the anniversary of the 19th Amendment's certification in 1920, which granted women the right to vote. This day celebrates the progress made toward gender equality and recognizes the ongoing efforts to advance women's rights. It serves as a reminder of the struggles and achievements of those who fought for women's suffrage and equality, and it encourages continued advocacy for gender parity in all areas of society. Women's Equality Day is a time to reflect on the progress made, honor the contributions of women throughout history, and renew the commitment to achieving full equality for all.

Attention OPT Applicants:

Important Information on Employer Identification

It's come to our attention that many students applying for STEM OPT extensions are encountering a common error related to employer information on Form I-765 and Form I-983. We want to clarify these details to help you avoid any delays or issues with your application.

Form I-765: Employers' Name and E-Verify Information

When completing Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, you will be asked to provide:

28.a. Employer's Name as Listed in E-Verify: Ensure you input the exact name of your employer as it appears in the E-Verify system. This may differ slightly from the commonly used name, so it's essential to confirm this with your HR department.

28.b. Employer's E-Verify Company Identification Number: This is a unique number assigned to your employer by the E-Verify program. Again, your HR department will have this information and can provide it to you.

28.c E-Verify Client Company Identification Number: If your employer uses a third-party company for E-Verify services, you might need this additional identification number. Confirm with your HR if this is applicable.

Form I-983: Employer Identification Number (EIN)

In contrast, Form I-983, Training Plan for STEM OPT Students, requires you to enter the Employer Identification Number (EIN) in Section 3. The EIN is a federal tax identification number assigned by the IRS and is distinct from the E-Verify numbers mentioned above.

Key Differences:

  • E-Verify Numbers: Used for verifying employment eligibility. These include the E-Verify Company Identification Number and, if applicable, the E-Verify Client Company Identification Number. You must ask your HR department for these details when completing Form I-765.
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN): Used for federal tax purposes. This is needed for completing Section 3 of Form I-983.

By understanding these differences and obtaining the correct information from your HR department, you can ensure your STEM OPT application is accurate and complete, preventing unnecessary delays.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please reach out to our office for assistance.

Mochi Ice cream: Delights from Around the World

Mochi ice cream is a delightful fusion of traditional Japanese mochi and creamy ice cream. It consists of small, chewy rice cake wrappers filled with a scoop of ice cream. To make mochi ice cream, start by preparing mochi dough using sweet rice (glutinous rice) steamed and pounded into a sticky consistency, then mixed with sugar. After rolling the dough thin and cutting it into small rounds, wrap each piece around a small scoop of ice cream. The wrapped ice cream is then frozen until firm. The result is a soft, chewy exterior with a creamy, flavorful center, offering a unique and delicious dessert experience. Popular flavors include matcha, red bean, and mango.
