MESSAGE FROM JIMMY
“Be un-Afraid”
Text: Psalm 27
What keeps you up at night? Truth be told there are a lot of things we could put on that list - health concerns, financial struggles, relational problems, anxiety, worry, and fear. Fear is one of those powerful emotions that is hardwired into our brains from the beginning for our survival. We know there are healthy fears like don’t touch a hot burner on the stove. However, there are so many fears that we carry around that have no basis in reality. These fears - fear of the future, fear of others, fear of failure - can keep us bound up in a knot of anxiety and steal our peace of mind. What does the Bible have to say about fear? How did Jesus teach us to hold our fear in check? We will get a boost of courage and hope this week in worship through some practical and Biblical wisdom to help us to be un-afraid in uncertain times.
Stewardship month is just around the corner in November. We will kick off the month with a special dinner for church leaders on November 2nd. Invitation letters were sent out last week. Please RSVP by Thursday, October 26th by calling the church office or emailing me ([email protected]). The theme for this year will be “Great Is Your Faithfulness.” Look for more news and announcements about stewardship in the coming weeks.
In this season of gratitude, I am thankful for YOU! Our church family is amazing, and your faithful generosity is evident every day around here. Last week, a group of men from our Wednesday morning prayer group gave a few hours of their time cleaning up some trees around the MEA building as part of Clinton’s “Clean Up and Clean Out” campaign. Our bodies were a little sore, but the results look amazing! It’s the little things that matter and communicate that we care. We all have something to share to make our church and community a better place. Let’s go be the church, y’all!
Jimmy
