Garden Club Dirt and Bulb Transfer
Help us get our garden boxes ready for spring - by re-using soil from our former Puesta del Sol Garden. On March 31st - before and after school - help remove some soil from our new boxes and pick up some Home Depot buckets. Then on March 31st - April 2nd go to our old school garden at a time that works well for you, dig up soil and bulbs, bring to the new garden. Bulbs will go into one area and the dirt into the new garden boxes. Bring a shovel and gloves.

Passport Check will be on Wednesday, April 26th. Who wants to learn all about Kenya this month for Special Itinerary? If you would like to help our 4th and 5th grade student checkers, volunteer here.

International Festival Amity Dance and Music Opportunity
Tuesdays, from 3:35 to 4:40 pm, Starting March 28 through May 23
International Festival and Amity Act Sign Ups - Each year for the International Festival celebrates the cultures of the Puesta del Sol Community through dance and music. This year is extra special - we are combining Art Fest with International Festival to make it more accessible and fun for our families. IF/Art Fest will happen on Wednesday May 24 from 6pm to 8pm at Puesta del Sol.
Students can join our fabulous interns Celia, Danilo, Erik and Erika in learning a dance/musical act from Spain, Colombia, and El Salvador to perform on the main stage at the festival. There is no cost to participate, though there are limited spots and kids will need a willingness to participate.

Spring Fundraising
Fundraising Update:
We have only 2 fundraisers left this school year (Apex Student Leadership training and Remix Glow Move-a-thon Party April 7th AND Rummage Sale April 22nd).
You are welcome to donate anytime on the PTA website or by supporting the last 2 fundraisers. You can also support by submitting for corporate matching (we have $15,000 less of corporate match than previous years!)
We have around $45,000 more dollars on our budget that have not yet been spent. We hope between corporate match and our 2 fundraisers to make up the difference.
Why the new program this year? We are trying a new company called APEX, recommended by other schools in our district. We are consistently struggling to get volunteers and this company has been the solution at other schools.
Not only does APEX help PTA raise money for Puesta, but also provides a free leadership program for students that aligns with our curriculum and is taught during the school day.
All students will receive a t-shirt and bracelets for free. All students will participate in the Remix Glow Move-a-thon Party April 7th for free.
The APEX staff is background checked and approved as volunteers in our district.
APEX does take a portion of donations and we will access this partnership to decide on future fundraisers.

Save the Date: Earth Day Rummage Sale on April 22
Save the date for our Puesta del Sol PTA Rummage Sale, happening on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22!
A great method of sustainability is Reuse (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!)
We have a mission for you during Spring Break: save some of those household items and furniture in good, working condition, and donate to the Rummage Sale.
Item drop off: More information to follow with opportunities for item drop-off, including a special drop off at school the evening of Friday 4/21.
Event volunteers will also get a chance for Early Bird shopping!

Preschool at the Puesta del Sol Elementary building is coming, starting in the 2023-2024 school year.

Host Families Needed for 2023-2024 School Year
The Amity Program offers interns a unique cultural and teaching experience at Puesta del Sol. We have four amazing interns this year who are serving in various classrooms.
We are looking for host families for the 2023-2024 school year. Hosting can be 3-6-9 month experience. If you are interested in learning about the program or hosting, or connecting to a current host family, please contact amity@puestadelsolpta.org.

Thank you to everyone who helped in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, and again all those who helped making our beautiful new school building a reality.
From the voters who voted for the school levy, our Bellevue community members who helped support; school Design team, architect and build teams; Bellevue School District; Puesta del Sol Elementary administration, teachers and staff (both past and present); our Puesta del Sol families and PTA (both past and present); community groups (International Spanish Academy (ISA), Office of the Spanish Consulate, Jubilee Reach and more) and volunteers before, during and after our move.
Thank you to the special performances Sammamish High School Mariachi (led by Mary Davis), Flamenco (led by Ana Montes), Marimba (led by Sra. Emily Rose); also thank you to Mi Tierra Mariachi (organized by Sra. Monica Wilson and sponsored by Puesta del Sol PTA--Monica also did tireless work on the event programs), and of course our PTA Communications. We know there are so many more names to thank and appreciate all the hands that make our Puesta del Sol Community special.

Join us for an evening of food, drinks, music, and a showcase of BSF donor funded programs. The funding raised at Spring for Schools 2023 will determine how much support the BSF can provide for critical programming at all 30 schools in Bellevue School District. The event will host business professionals, community leaders, and philanthropic donors who are committed to making sure that all 18,000+ students in Bellevue’s public schools have access to innovative programs and enrichment opportunities that will help them thrive in an increasingly competitive global market.
