School Announcements



  • Go Green NYC School Surveys: It is time to complete the 2023 NYC School Survey that has been extended until April 20, 2023. This school year you have two ways to complete the survey; paper form or online. For the Online Survey Click Here!


  • Spring Recess: School will be closed from Thursday, April 6 to Friday, April 14, no students in the building. School will resume on Monday, April 17.



  • New York State Exams: The 3rd to 5th graders will be taking their ELA state exams on Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20.


  • Eid al-Fitr: Schools will closed on Friday, April 21, no students in the building. Classes resume on Monday, April 24.


  • ELO Family Day: On Tuesday, April 25, expanded learning opportunity fellows will be hosting a parent event after school to showcase the work they have done throughout the school year. These programs are Green Team, Yoga Club, and Success Mentoring Program. The time will be announced soon.


  • Parent Workshop: We will be hosting a parent workshop Wednesday, April 26 at 8:45 am, where you will continue to have parent circles covering social emotional learning.


  • Paint and Mocktails: We will be hosting a parent and student event on Wednesday, April 26 to celebrate the perfect attendance and most improved students in March. The time of the event will be announced soon.


  • Save the Date: We will be hosting a Spring Fest on Friday, May 19 at 8:30 AM. Please find the flyer and QR code below to register for the event!


  • Health and Safety: It is very important that if your child is sick you keep them home, and check in with a doctor before bringing them back into school building. The Nurse will continue to see students and inform the parents if your child needs to go home. COVID testing kits are given to students every week, please use if needed.


  • Device Update: We will continue to use learning devices for both in person learning and at times when called for during temporary remote instruction. If you need a device, please contact your child’s teacher. Your cooperation and that of your child during this time is very important and very much appreciated. Working together we can have a safe and productive school year.


  • DOE School Calendar: You can find the new school calendar for the school year of 2022 to 2023 HERE


  • NYC Schools Account: It’s important that your school is able to reach you to share crucial information quickly, including alerts about confirmed COVID-19 cases in your child’s school. Please sign up for a NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) so we can contact you via phone, email, or text message. STEPS ARE HERE

P.S. 36 Movie Night


P.S. 36 Margaret Douglas hosted our first movie night for all perfect attendance winners!

Thank you to all the families who came and enjoyed the movie.

Impact Day


Thank you to the classes who participated in the read aloud for Impact Day. Impact Day was established to amplify the commitment and reach of the Teachers College community, while also providing you the opportunity to make your own impact on Teachers College.

Success Mentoring Program Celebration


Students celebrate their first two months in the Success Mentoring Program. The program was introduced in January 2023 to addresses chronic absenteeism and support the success of students by promoting social- emotional skill building, positive identity exploration, and student engagement. 



P.S. 36 Mighty Tigers School Store


The school store is now open for business every Friday! Students receive school bucks throughout the week for being good citizens in the school building and classroom.

Arrival and Dismissal Updates
  • Breakfast will be served for all students in the cafeteria at 8:00 AM.
  • 3K – PK students will be escorted and picked by their parent to their classrooms.
  • Kindergarten and First Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 1 veranda.
  • Second and Third Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 3 veranda.
  • Fourth and Fifth Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the main lobby, Exit 2 veranda.

School Based Mental Health Services

School Based Mental Health Services offers students a space to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment and helps them develop healthy coping-skills. We offer individual counseling services, family therapy, and group counseling for students. 

 

If you believe your child can benefit from developing healthy coping skills or if you notice your child is experiencing changes in their eating or sleeping habits, behavioral issues, extreme feelings of sadness or worry, or has experienced any type of traumatic event, please reach out to Armanda Soto at Armanda.Soto@nyfoundling.org, and fill out a consultation form below.
