First Search Committee Update

Dear members and friends of Northshore Church,
We met for the first time to begin the process of searching for our next minister. It is essential that you also participate in the process as actively as possible. Soon you will receive information about a Unitarian Universalist Association survey for our congregation. This is the first very important way to get details about who we are now and what we feel is important for our future together.
We will be sending a link to electronically complete that survey, as well as letting you know how to access a paper copy if you prefer. No matter the format, it is essential that each Northshore Church member or friend get one completed survey back to us as we begin our search.
You will have other ways to keep in touch and share your thoughts. In addition to small group “Cottage Meetings”, you are able to reach out to any Search Committee members personally—when you see us at church (look for our name tags), or in personal conversations (contact information is in the new directory). We will also stay in touch with you in the Northshore Church weekly email announcements, “Good Things are Happening”.
We are grateful that you chose us to represent your interests and hopes for Northshore Church’s future minister as we search, together.
Excited to begin,
Bo Batty, Beth Blanchard, Jeri Kroll, Julie O’Meara (Chair), Terri Hansen

LET'S MAKE "ART IN THE WOODS" A HUGE SUCCESS

IT IS UP TO EACH OF US TO DO OUR PART

ART FUNDRAISER, Sat. October 15, 1-5:30 pm

We are making progress with the fundraiser, but we still need to push to make this a successful event. Remember the church has not had a fundraiser for a very long time and we have been so fortunate to receive the artworks of so many artist church members including: Shirley Guerriero, Elaine Chipman,              Beth Blanchard, Hal Morse and Eleanor Koshgarian.

What We Still Need:

  • Food servers and preparers (sign-ups after church service in

                fellowship hall and on-line).

  • Distribute flyers (2 types) to friends, family, business connections or                 providers (available in the church lobby).
  • Set up and clean-up crews (see sign-ups)
  • Share/email info and flyers with everyone

If you are unable to come Oct 15 and unable to make food, please consider a DONATION made out to NSUU with Art Fundraiser in the memo line.

The Art Fundraiser committee has worked very hard to make this happen, and we appreciate every bit of support and help you can contribute.

Call Cheryl Ferris at 978-660-7104 or Jean Koulack-Young at 978-587-2935 for questions.

Reaffirming our Commitment to be a Welcoming Congregation

Last Sunday's Service by Gerri Cannon, “Stepping Out of the Shadows-Ignoring Stereotypes”

We were so inspired by our last service with Gerri. The Social Action Committee intends to continue our work in this area. Feedback and resource information is greatly appreciated.

Working on Ballot Questions 1 and 4: Mass Action

Question #4

Iain did a great job at our last service of laying out the concerns of Ballot question #4 regarding support for the “Work and Mobility Act” that allows all Massachusetts residents to apply for a standard driver’s license, regardless of their immigration status. Opposition is trying to repeal this law.

Question # 1: Fair Share amendment: aims to impose extra taxes on the wealthiest residents of the state and funnel the extra money into education and transportation.

Our friends at Mass Action, ECCO and the Beverly UU are looking for people to join in these campaigns with door-knocking and phone banking. Contact Cheryl Ferris: 978-660-7104 for more information.
