A Day in the Life
Photography Project RFI
DEADLINE EXTENDED
The Albuquerque Arts Board and Public Art Program are now accepting Letters of Interest for the 2022 photography, print and installation of what it’s like to make the City of Albuquerque run for 24 hours.

Seven Rio Grande Valley artists working in film and digital photography will be embedded with various City departments to produce 10 images that create a narrative, theme or story to reveal the complexities and accomplishments of a day at City Hall.
The selected artists will propose their own themes for the photo series, but can get input from the Albuquerque Arts Board Selection Committee. Themes about city workers may include the activities they engage in on a regular basis: meetings, public appearances, emergency calls and daily operations.
Place-based themes can be environmental, historic or municipal. Themes can also include animals, vehicles/modes of transportation or cultural assets (neon, outdoor sculpture, pueblo architecture or other objects unique to Albuquerque).

Up to $87,500 ($12,500 for each of the seven (7) artists) is available to commission two (2) sets of the ten (10) image series prints. Finished prints are not expected to be larger than 12” x 16”. The Public Art Program will provide framing for one set of the finished photographs.
Artists must be 18 years of age and live and do their primary creative work in the greater Albuquerque metropolitan area and Rio Grande Valley (Valencia, Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Torrance Counties).

2-D Call for Art
Purchase of Existing Works

The committee is interested in purchasing existing works made by New Mexico artists that show compelling craftsmanship and technique in a range of media, including: painting, printmaking, drawing, collage, weaving, mixed media photography and assemblage. Digital photography and original works must be printed on archival paper using archival inks; Giclee reproductions of original works will not be accepted.

This is an open call for all artists living in the State of New Mexico. Works must have been completed in the last three years and be in the range of $500 to $5,000.

Figurative sculpture of people will not be considered. The Art Selection Committee is interested in sculptural artworks that can serve as a landmark to the renowned Rio Grande Nature Center State Park while also serving local residents with a beautiful, relevant design.
