Superintendent's Message
Dear Mt. Pleasant Community,

Please join us in celebrating Staff Appreciation Month. We honor the amazing work that our teachers, classified employees and administrators do at our schools to support students throughout the year. Their efforts shape our students’ learning experience and inspire our school community.

It has been wonderful to see our students and families express their gratitude to the fantastic people who work so hard for our district community.

The keys to maintaining a high-quality education have been flexibility and creativity. Together, we have adapted to changes and continue to pursue our goals to provide the best learning environment for our students.

Thank you again for being part of our Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Elida MacArthur
Superintendent

Learning About Measure H

Measure H is on the ballot on June 7, 2022, asking voters to decide on the renewal of funding for programs and services at MPESD, extending an already existing parcel tax.

Measure H funds help to maintain strong core academic programs, including math and science, attract/retain qualified teachers, provide current educational materials, support art, music, reading, and writing programs/access to technology training, and keep libraries open.

If approved, this measure will renew, without increasing, its expiring $95 annual parcel tax for seven years, raising $480,000 annually. We encourage the community to learn more about Measure H.
A Big Thanks to Our Staff Members!
We appreciate the hard work of all our teachers, classified employees, principals and all our staff! We recognize the amazing contributions of the Mt. Pleasant team and their positive impact in our school community.

Please see how some of our students and families expressed their gratitude for their Mt. Pleasant teachers and staff! We are so proud of you all!
Planning for Memorable Promotion Ceremonies
This year, Ida Jew Academy and August Boeger will have their promotion ceremonies on campus! We are very excited to have families join the events in-person. We will even have a Snapchat filter for families to use while on campus!

Preparations are under way to honor our students for their commitment. Even in the face of challenging circumstances, our students continued studying and learning, and now they will advance to a new chapter in their lives and their academic journey. Congratulations to all our 8th graders and all the students advancing to the next grade!

Thank you for being part of our Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District community! Be curious, be determined, be patient and welcome the opportunities to excel!
Welcoming Our New Directors
of Curriculum and Personnel!
We are excited to announce the hiring of two outstanding candidates to fill the roles of Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments and Director of Personnel.

Ms. Dina Chung has been selected as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments. Ms. Chung is a familiar face as Principal of Mt. Pleasant Elementary STEAM School. Ms. Chung has broad experience with local and state assessments, parent involvement and professional development. Ms. Chung has worked in our district for over 20 years as a classroom teacher, intervention teacher, and principal. For the past two years, besides her job as a principal, she has provided districtwide support in multiple areas related to instruction.
We would also like to welcome Dr. Sandra Jewett to our district, as our Director of Personnel. Dr. Jewett comes to us with solid experience in both educational services and human resources. She possesses K-12 bilingual teaching and administrative credentials; she has served as a K-12 bilingual classroom teacher, dean, principal, director, assistant superintendent, chief academic officer, executive vice president for educational services and adjunct faculty in the College of Education.

Her administrative public, charter, and faith-based school experience includes systemic change and whole school improvement efforts that ultimately have supported substantial gains in student achievement. Dr. Jewett also has wide experience in Human Resources, including the mentoring of site administrators and teacher induction programs.

Thank you both for your commitment to advance education at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District!
Summer School at MPESD
This is a friendly reminder that summer school applications are being sent out. Our district is offering several programs by invitation. We will be offering a reading and writing program specifically for incoming grades 1- 4, Elevate Math for incoming grades 3 - 8, and MPAS will be offering a Summer Camp/Robotics program and extended learning.

To ensure the best opportunity for your child to be successfully placed into one of these programs, we need your help! Please turn in your applications immediately to your school site principals or submit online (Elevate). Priority will be based on a first come, first served basis. Please contact your child’s school site principal for more information.
