From the LPGA Amateurs Savannah-Hillton Head Chapter
Welcome to the Lowcountry!
The Savannah-Hilton Head Chapter will graciously host this years’ Magnolia Challenge (formerly known as the Dixie Cup) from Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13, 2022. The golf courses in the Lowcountry host some of most celebrated golf tournaments including the home of the RBC Heritage, the Golfweek Amateur Tour and the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.

The Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club is a premier private beachfront community located along the heel of Hilton Head Island where the Port Royal Sound meets the Atlantic Ocean. They will be our venue host, which is part of The Heritage Golf Collection and has two award-winning championship golf courses, the Barony Course and the Robber’s Row Course.

The Carolinas vs. the HOTS
The Magnolia Challenge is an annual fun team event between the “Carolinas” and the Heart of the South (HOTS). The Carolinas team is comprised of active members from the chapters in North Carolina, South Carolina, and South Virginia. The HOTS team is comprised of active members from chapters in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee. The Saturday golf will be a 2vs2 Match Play format on the Robber’s Rob Course and Sunday will be a 4-Person team format on the Barony Course.

We are still in the early stages of the event planning but are estimating the price per player to be about $300 excluding accommodations. This price will include two days of all-inclusive golf, a welcome gift bag, a Friday evening social with appetizers and a drink ticket, a Saturday box lunch and evening buffet dinner, a Sunday snack bag and an awards lunch buffet. For those wanting to play an optional Friday practice round, it is an additional $60+tax and you must reserve and pay for your tee time directly with the pro-shop. Accommodations are an additional cost and will be the responsibility of the players to reserve and pay themselves. We are currently working on a few hotel special rates to offer you which will be disclosed when registration is open.

Registration
Registration will be on a first come, first served basis, however, based on the number of chapters involved, we may need to limit the number of players per chapter to allow fair participation for each chapter, pending responses. We are hoping to open registration before or on April 1, 2022 once we have confirmed more details.

Players must have an established handicap. We will need a minimum of 60 players to run the event, and there will be a maximum limit of 120 players.

On behalf of the Savannah-Hilton Head SC Chapter, we look forward to seeing you!
