Competitive Grant Cycle Opens June 1, 2022
CFDRR's Board of Directors and staff are excited to announce the opening of our annual competitive grant cycle!

These grants will be awarded in January 2023 for use in 2023.
Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status in good standing and approved government entities may apply online to CFDRR's competitive grant cycle at https://cfdrrgrants.academicworks.com/

The deadline for grant applications is Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

CFDRR Out in the Community
Goodwill Industries of the Valleys hosted an Open House for their Danville Jobs Center on May 10. CFDRR's Executive Director, Kathy Milam (left) presented a $10,000 grant awarded to Goodwill as a result of CFDRR's 2021 competitive
grant cycle.

Kathy Milam represented CFDRR in an interview with Mark Aron on River City TV, featuring Danville Neighborhood Development Corporation's upcoming Home Repair Blitz on May 21. CFDRR awarded DNDC a $15,000 grant for the Blitz as a result of CFDRR's 2021 competitive grant cycle. Watch the interview on Facebook here.
Words of Impact and Gratitude
The Community Foundation receives many wonderful letters and reports communicating the impact and outcome of grants awarded during the competitive grant cycle and throughout the year.

The following are a few examples of kind words of impact and gratitude from recent grant recipients:
Community Improvement Council, Inc. Head Start: “The support your organization provides is vital to the success of CIC and the Danville Community. We value this partnership and look forward to the support of your organization as we put forward proposals in the future.”  
Virginia Dental Association Foundation: “Thank you so much for enabling us to carry out our mission of providing access to dental care to underserved Virginians. We are grateful to have the Foundation’s partnership in serving our neighbors in need, and we look forward to again collaborating with you to improve the overall health of the Danville and Pittsylvania area.”
Pittsylvania County Public Library and PPL Foundation: “Your Community Impact Fund grant of $3,000 will support creative and exciting summer reading programs for children and youth across Pittsylvania County. Summer Reading Programs foster a love of reading for pleasure that helps enrich literacy skills and reduce students’ loss of educational gains over the summer break, particularly in households that contain few or no books.”
Fine Whines and Lickers, Inc.: “Dogs waiting for forever homes now have more area to play safely. We utilize the new play area daily while cleaning kennels and for the playgroups we have setup for the dogs to socialize and get their exercise.” 
Caswell Parish: “Out of a total of 209 households who have received utility assistance so far in 2021, Community Foundation funds were used to assist 116 families who had received cut off notices from the utility company for failure to pay their bills, or who were out of LP gas, kerosene, or heating oil with no funds to purchase more.”
Caswell County Partnership for Children: “This grant provided Kindergarten Transition and Family Engagement learning kits for 58 four year olds transitioning into Kindergarten. One Pre-K Teacher shared how thankful she was for the resources, getting literacy into the hands of Caswell’s children and getting them excited about reading.”
