A Message From the CEO | Upcoming Chamber Events

Welcome New Members! | Updates from the Chamber Network

From the CEO's Desk

A special thank you this week to all of our attendees, finalists, sponsors, and winners of the 39th Annual Business Excellence Awards presented by BDO Canada. We look forward to sharing highlights of the evening, the finalists, and the winners over the next few weeks in our social media channels, as these are the types of businesses and individuals that make the Brantford-Brant community a great place to live, work, play, and do business.

May continues to be a very busy month, with our Business After Hours event at Misty’s Kitchens tonight, and our Skilled Trades Luncheon event on Tuesday, May 16th – space still available to hear the exceptional Jon Callegher and his research and perspective on attracting youth into these important careers.

A number of our friends and partners have events this month as well – Brant Waterways, Ladies Who Lead, the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce and Community Living Brant, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and the Drive Out Hunger Charity Golf Tournament for the Food Bank, among others. Congratulations to the Stedman Hospice on another successful Hike or Bike for Hospice this past weekend.

Hope to see you out soon!

News from the Chamber Network

NEW Green Bin Program

The City of Brantford is launching a NEW green bin program beginning Wednesday, November 1, 2023. To learn more about the green bin program, visit Brantford.ca/GreenBin. All residents that are eligible for the Green Bin Program will automatically receive a bin delivered to their residence in October 2023.

For businesses and residents in Downtown Brantford’s daily collection area only and would like to participate in the Green Bin program, please complete the bin request form https://form.brantford.ca/Living-Here/Green-Bin-Request or contact customer service at 519-759-4150.

Residents are asked to separate organic waste from their regular garbage. Green Bin collection will take place with weekly scheduled collection in your area. The bin must be placed at the curb before 7 a.m. (9 a.m. in the downtown) on your day of collection.

In order to extend the life of the Mohawk Street Landfill, we need to reduce the amount of waste that ends up at the landfill. Existing programs such as Recycling and Yard Waste only divert 34% of our waste. To reach the City’s ultimate goal of Zero Waste, we need to increase waste diversion to 70% by 2050. By participating in a Green Bin Program, household organic waste will not only be diverted to an organics processing facility where it will be made into nutrient-rich compost, it will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the landfill.

Shared from our friends in the Downtown Brantford Business Improvement Area and the City of Brantford.
