Greetings UCCB,
Worship with us this Sunday, August 18, at Boxborough UCC, 723 Massachusetts Ave, Boxborough.
In the gospel lesson for Sunday (John 6) Jesus offers eternal life through his diet plan: the bread of life. Participating in peacemaking, forgiveness, sacrificial living, repairing a broken world, promoting justice, nurturing hope, and trusting in goodness is life in the new creation promised by God in Jesus. Living in this creation - made possible by the bread of life - is life eternal.
The Sounds of Peace will be singing an "oldie, goldie" from the revival movement of the late 19th century - Sing Them Over Again to Me (Wonderful Words of Life). The tune was composed and the words were written by Philip Bliss who became the song leader for the evangelist Dwight Moody. This hymn became enormously popular in revivals of the 1870s as a duet sung by Bliss and his wife. Come be fed the bread of life in the singing of the "wonderful words of life"
See you on Sunday!
