CBF GLOBAL MISSIONS SUNDAY

Nell Green, retired CBF Global Field Personnel, will be our guest preacher this Sunday, December 3. Nell is like the Energizer Bunny— she’s here, she’s there, she’s everywhere! When I attend CBF General Assembly meetings, she’s there. She’s the familiar face I know I will always see. Before she became a promoter for the CBF Global Missions offering, she and her husband Butch served in Senegal, Miami, Belgium, the Carolinas, and Houston. After 37 years, she retired from CBF this year, and she is still in full-time ministry through The Off Ramp and Threads by Nomad. The mission dollars invested in their ministry continue to reap benefits through this project. And now, more importantly for us, she will be here to bring our message as we begin the season of giving. We are not all called to serve on the mission field, but we can be here to hear Nell’s message about what is being done by those who are called, how she continues to serve, and how we can support them. - Nancy Moore Phillips, WMU Director

DO YOU NEED OFFERING ENVELOPES?

Even as giving methods change, we continue to offer offering envelopes to those who request them. If you received offering envelopes this past year and wish to receive that same quantity again, you do not need to do anything. If you received envelopes this past year and wish to stop receiving them, please click here. If you wish to adjust the number of envelopes you received, please click here and indicate what amount of each envelope you would like to receive. If you have not received offering envelopes in the past but would like to have them for 2024, please click here and Wayne will contact you.

THEOLOGY ON TAP'S

DECEMBER GATHERING

Theology on Tap’s next gathering will be on Thursday, December 7, at 6pm at Clouds Brewing (126 N. West Street, Raleigh). Please join us!

HANGING OF THE GREENS

Our 47th annual Hanging of the Greens service will be held this Sunday, December 3, at 6pm, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. We hope you are able to join us for this special time of carols and readings, as we prepare our sanctuary for Advent.

We are still in need of cookies for the reception! If you can make 23 dozen cookies for the reception, please email Anne Cooke. The cookies need to be brought to the kitchen on Sunday morning, December 3.

HONOR A LOVED ONE

DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Our sanctuary is so lovely during Advent and Christmas when it is decorated with candles, fresh flowers, and greenery. This holiday “dress” transformation will occur as members of our music ministry share special musical offerings during the annual Hanging of the Greens service at 6pm on Sunday, December 3. You are invited to honor a loved one by making a donation toward the decorations for the service. With $15 for each honorific or memorial gift, all monies will help defray the cost of the trees, wreaths, fresh flowers, and greenery for the service. An insert in the December 10 bulletin will list the names of all for whom gifts were given. Please submit your request here. Checks or electronic payments should be received no later than this Friday, December 1. Forms are also available in Sunday School boxes. Mail checks to: Financial Administrator, 99 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh, NC 27603; please write “Holiday Greenery” on the memo line.

COMMUNITY MEALS

As we approach Christmas, we want to provide an opportunity for our congregation to serve our neighbors a hot meal from And Also With 'Cue. The Helen Wright Center (3603 Bastion Lane) is an emergency shelter for single adult women experiencing homelessness and is a broader part of Urban Ministries, and they have been experiencing record numbers. This is one small way we can give back to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, and a great way for families to serve together!

You can help us serve the women at the Center on Tuesday, December 12, 5:307:30pm. We'll be serving dinner to 65 women. We'll meet there, and begin setting up at 5:30pm. The meal is served at 6:30pm, and the entire shift will end around 7:30pm.

Please use the sign-up genius to RSVP, and email Leah with any questions!

BABY SHOWER

FOR BABY HOOD

Come help us celebrate expectant parents Sara and Michael Hood at a baby shower on Sunday, December 10, from 24pm in the fellowship hall! There will be refreshments, and you'll have a chance to write words of wisdom and well wishes to Sara and Michael, whose baby boy is due mid-January.

The Hoods are registered at babylist.com and Target.

Your hosts,

Jennifer Bissette, Janie Carothers, Renee Fulk, Jess Helms, Holly Ivel, Lacey Pegram, Rebecca Sasser, Hollis Yelverton, and the High School Youth Group Girls
