Susannah French Named Associate Dean

for Research, Faculty

USU Biology/Ecology Center Professor Susannah French, pictured left, is the college’s new Associate Dean for Research and Faculty. She succeeds Adele Cutler, who served as interim associate dean following Michelle Baker’s appointment as dean. Susannah is the liaison to the Office of Research, and

will advise faculty, chairs and heads on such issues as promotion and tenure, faculty code and more.

‘Croaky Shapeshifters’ at Science Unwrapped Friday, March 17

USU biologist Molly Womack presents “Croaky Shapeshifters: How Frogs Shapeshift within a Lifetime and Across Millennia” at Science Unwrapped, Friday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in ESLC 130. Hands-on learning activities follow her talk. All ages are welcome and admission is free!

New Student Leaders Announced

Jaxton Winder was elected by his peers as Science Senator for the 2023-24 academic year. Jaxton is a graduate student in Computer Science. Special thanks to 2022-23 Science Senator Gabriella Cale, who led successful activities and initiatives, including Science Week, Rapid Fire Research and Women in STEM Night. Sarah Pope, a doctoral student in Psychology, was re-elected university-wide Graduate Studies Senator for the 2023-24 academic year.

USU Faculty Awards Ceremony is

Thursday, March 30

USU’s Office of the Provost and the Office of Research host the third annual USU Faculty Awards Ceremony, Thursday, March 30, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. The awards include the university’s top research, teaching and service awards for faculty. All are welcome.

USU Research Week is April 10-14

USU Research Week includes the Faculty Author Exhibit, the Student Research Symposium, the D. Wynne Thorne Lecture and Presentation, and the Student Research Awards Ceremony. Events take place in the Merrill-Cazier Library.

Do You Drive University Vehicles?

All USU employees driving university vehicles must complete State of Utah Defensive Driving Training before operating state-owned vehicles. The training, which takes about 30 minutes, can be completed online on USU’s Institutional Learning System.
