Literacy Volunteers of Methuen needs YOU!!

Literacy Volunteers of Methuen is once again having tutor training classes starting in April.  This program is based at the Nevins Library and is geared towards adult ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) students.  Students meet with their volunteer tutors in the library and review lessons which have been designed with their individual needs in mind.  Currently there is a long wait list of students wanting a tutor to help them improve their English.  If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity why not join our tutor training classes in April and start helping a fellow community member learn English.

Author Thomas Mickey's Garden Program

Thomas Mickey  America's Romance with the English Garden

April 2nd  at 7pm

Thomas Mickey's book is the story of tastemakers and homemakers, of savvy businessmen and a growing American middle class eager to buy their products.  It is also the story of the beginnings of the modern garden industry, which seduced the masses with its images and fixed the English garden in the mind of the American consumer.  See and nursery catalogs delivered aspirational images to front doorsteps from Maine to California and the English Garden became the look of America.  Registeronline or call the Reference Dept. at 978-686-4080 x13 for more information.
