Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord!

We continue to see a rise in the number of people with the coronavirus and/or its variants. You may have noticed that we put the blue tape back on every other pew to social distance them. People continue to have the choice to wear a mask or not when in worship. The Health Equity Ministry team encourages us to wear our masks when in close proximity with others.

Sunday, May 22

As we near the end of the Easter Season our Gospel lesson takes us back to when Jesus speaks to his disciples before his death. He offers them the gift of the Holy Spirit to settle their troubled hearts. Please come and worship with us in-person or through our livestreaming option. If you wish to attend in person we ask that you sign-up so that we can plan accordingly. If at the last minute you decide you want to come then please do so.

Upcoming Activities

Social Statement on “Government and Civic Engagement”

In the June Tidings (newsletter) I will offer a reflection on ELCA Social Statements. A new one is being written called “Government and Civic Engagement.” For those who are interested in giving your input on the topic, a virtual listening event will be held on Tuesday, May 24, from 8 to 9:15 pm EST and then again on Wednesday, May 25, from 8 to 9:15 pm EST. The event will center on the questions: What is important to you when you think about government? How do you think the church and the state should relate to each other? You can register through this link. The event is free of charge. When you register please note that it states the Central Standard Time.

Memorial Service for Janet Wolfe – Saturday, May 21

We will celebrate the life of Janet Wolfe on Saturday at 2 pm. After the service there will be a reception in Fellowship Hall. Please come as you are able.

Here is the link to livestream.

Volunteers are still needed to be at our booth on McLean Day that will be held in Lewinsville Park. Volunteers will work 2-hour shifts between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Sign up using this link. If you need more information then please contact Roberta Pittman at [email protected]

Sunday, June 5 – Mark Your Calendars (3 Events)

It is a big day in the life of our church. At the 11 am service our choir will offer a special musical offering of Vivaldi’s “Gloria.” Please invite family and friends to the service. Immediately following the 11 am service is the Summer Bash. From 12 pm to 2 pm there will be food and games and the opportunity to engage with our church and community leaders about some of our ministries. Volunteers are needed to make the day run well. You can sign up here to volunteer.

And then at 3 pm the Opera Susquehanna will offer an abridged version of “Lohengrin” at Redeemer. It will be held in our worship space. For tickets go to http://www.operasusquehanna.org. The cost is $25. Some of the performers include Keith Craig (sings with us at 9:45 am for special events) and Scott and Leah Crowne (joined us for special events before they moved to Pennsylvania). Come and bring your family and friends.
