The MCAAP Children's Mental Health Task Force

The Children’s Mental Health Task Force (CMHTF) is a coalition convened by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MCAAP) with other health care providers, health plans, state government representatives, and advocacy groups. The aim of the CMHTF is to serve as a forum to advocate for prevention, coordination of care and enhanced access for children to quality mental health services within the medical home and in the broader community. Ultimately the goal is to transform pediatric practice to promote behavioral health and manage behavioral concerns.

All MCAAP members are

From Dr. Heather Forkey:

We all appreciate that we are in the middle of a pediatric mental health (MH) crisis.  The MCAAP Children’s Mental Health Task Force can be a resource as you work to serve children and families.

At our first meeting of the year we discussed some tools that may help you provide effective MH care and be reimbursed for the time you spend. We also started to discuss what the new mental health legislation and changes with MassHealth mean for providing care for our patients.

Come join us via zoom on November 15th as we continue that conversation and specifically consider ways to implement new MassHealth policy which allows us to bill for MH services, EVEN when a patient is not yet diagnosed with a MH condition!

Even if you have never come to a Mental Health Task Force meeting – you are welcome to attend, participate or just turn off your camera and listen!! All are welcome as we figure out how to navigate this crisis in a changing landscape!!
