Author Event: Kevin Redman
We happily remember hosting Local Author Kevin Redman back when he published his first book, "Father Load," and now we are thrilled to welcome him back IN PERSON with his second book "The Other Side of Someday: Eighteen Years Later, My Son is a Person, Now What?"

Tuesday, June 7 at 6:30pm.

Please join us in supporting Methuen's own and his latest book, which will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Space is limited, since it is in person, so register to reserve your seat with the link below, or give us a call and we can help you register, (978) 686-4080.
TEDxNevinsLibrary is Coming!
Have you heard of TED Talks? What about TEDx? In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is called TEDxNevinsLibrary, where TED Talks videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

We are planning our TEDx event, "Making Connections", for October 2022, and starting in June we will be seeking speakers from within our community – do you, or someone you know, have a brilliant idea on what it means “to connect” that you would like to share with the wider community?

If so (or you’re not quite sure and would like some more information), please check our website at the link below for details and the application procedure; we will be accepting applications for speakers throughout the month of June.
Bring on the Book Donations!
We are now accepting Friends' book sale donations again! If you have books that you’re looking to donate that are in good condition (no yellow pages, water damage, or mold), please bring them in to the designated cart near the Main Desk.

We appreciate donations of books, DVDs, Blu Rays, CDs, for every age – children’s to adults – but unfortunately we cannot accept encyclopedias, magazines, or VHS tapes.

Your donations will help us prepare for the next Friends of the Library Book Sale, in September, whose proceeds help fund the library programs and projects that you enjoy.

Thank you for your donations!

So Many Summer Activities!
We are so excited that it’s time to launch another season of wonderful Summer Activities!

We’ve got lots of fun events throughout the summer, and in June you can look forward to meeting live owls, learning how to play the ukulele, and hearing acclaimed storyteller Len Cabral!

We’ll also have a special Juneteenth storytime with guest reader Methuen City Councilor Eunice Ziegler, as well as the return of our Friday Little Bookworms storytimes at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm (beginning June 24).

For the littlest ones, we have a new, lively On the Move! program – not quite a storytime, not quite a dance party, but the best of both – plus our ever-popular Books & Bubbles sessions.

And if you’re a new parent of a little one, don’t miss out on our helpful New Parents Network meetings, where you can share insights with other new parents and learn from a seasoned parenting coach. The next one is June 15.

For older kids, we’ll be offering several programs jointly with the Teen Department, such as a Friendship Bracelet program and a fun, creative FrankenStory Writing session, plus more throughout the summer.

All of our special summer programs are now open for registration, including music, animals, hip hop, and dinosaurs – check out the Children’s Calendar , linked below, for further info about the amazing variety of activities and to register for those that interest you.

And of course we’ve got snazzy beads and badges to offer kids when they participate in Children’s Department summer programs and contests – beginning June 6, come by the library to get registration packets and to start your Bead & Badge Bonanza collection. (Your child doesn’t have to be school-age to participate and to earn beads and badges, by the way.)

Keep an eye on the Children’s Department calendar and Facebook page to learn the latest about upcoming programs and special events – there’s so much fun in store!

Happy June, and happy reading!
