September Funding Focus Newsletter #2

What is a Limited Submission?

A limited submission solicitation (RFA, RFP, etc.) places a cap on the number of proposals Auburn may submit to a sponsor. Auburn coordinates limited submissions by sending out a notification via this newsletter and creating competitions in the Auburn University Competition Space (also known as InfoReady). To apply to any limited submission posted in this newsletter, click on the link below and search for your competition listed on the page.

Please refer to the Limited Submission Procedures page for a general list of requirements. However, it is recommended that you go to the specific competition as soon as possible and review the requirements to ensure that you are preparing what is requested since the required information for competitions may vary.

Found a Limited Submission opportunity that interests you?
If so, please contact the PSFS office sooner than later so that an internal competition can be created for a timely, university-wide, fair and equitable selection process that allows for ample time for review, feedback and revisions.

Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation: 2025 Moore Inventor Fellows

This fellowship seeks to identify outstanding early-stage inventors. The Moore Foundation is looking for individuals who are harnessing science and technology solutions to enhance scientific research, strengthen environmental conservation, or improve the experience and outcomes of patient care.

All candidates must be no more than 10 years past receiving their terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., M.S., or other ) in their field from when the award will begin (2025 – a degree received on any date in 2015 is acceptable). Fellows must be engaged in the pursuit of their invention at least 25 percent time for the three-year duration of the award.

Institutional Limit: 2 Nominations

Internal Deadline: October 8, 2024, 4:45pm

Funder Nomination Deadline: November 15, 2024, 5:00pm PT

NSF: EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement-Focused EPSCoR Collaborations Program (RII-FEC)

EPSCoR RII-FEC requires inter-jurisdictional collaborative teams of EPSCoR investigators in STEM focus areas consistent with NSF priority areas for the development of a diverse, well-prepared, STEM-enabled workforce necessary to sustain research competitiveness.

Central to the success of the proposal is a clear demonstration that the collaboration is well-positioned to produce outcomes that cannot be obtained through the efforts of a team in a single jurisdiction working alone. Projects are investigator-driven and must include researchers from at least two EPSCoR eligible jurisdictions with complementary expertise and resources necessary to address challenges, which neither party could address as well or rapidly independently. The integration and inclusion of Minority-serving Institutions (MSIs), women's colleges, Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs), and two-year colleges is a critical component of this sustainable STEM capacity.

The proposal must clearly identify the roles and contributions of each partner in the project, the anticipated increases in research capacity and competitiveness, the projected workforce development and educational plan and outcomes, and the benefits to the jurisdictions, the Nation, and society.

Awards vary based on the number of eligible jurisdictions participating in the project.

Focus Area: "Building capacity towards use-inspired research"

Institutional Limit: 1 Proposal

Internal Deadline: October 9, 2024, 4:45pm

Funder LOI Deadline: December 17, 2024, 5:00pm CT
