The  Adult Forum begins at 9 am.

The 301 Faith Partners Joint Ecological Team will be leading an Adult Forum on the theme of "Listen to the Voice of Creation".

We lament the loss of individuals, communities, species, and ecosystems, and those whose livelihoods are threatened by habitat loss and climate change. Our common prayer and action can help us listen for the voices of those who are silenced.

Please join us in the Sun Room for this time of learning and conversation or by Zoom with this link.

Learn something of the experiences and outlook of people who think of themselves as queer. This might include gay and lesbian folks, trans folks, intersex folks and non-binary folks, as well as others.

You may think of GLBTQI+ concerns as not quite as dire or needing attention as issues of racism, oppression, poverty and homelessness, and gun violence. After all, aren’t many of us white and well off? Well no. And in any case, especially now, in the current climate of intolerance, there are many overlaps such as:

  • Safety: Most people who identify as queer have to be very mindful of safety issues. Who is around and how might they harm us? We have to be careful how we walk, what we say, how we show affection, and so forth. GLBTQI+ folks are assaulted and murdered at much higher rates than the national averages
  • Discrimination: The Queer community often experiences discrimination in housing and workplace. Even these days. And prisoners are more at risk to be the victims of physical and sexual assault while incarcerated.
  • Poverty and Homelessness: Trans folx and gay men and teens experience homelessness at high rates relative to hetero and cisgender populations.

Hospitality includes curiosity and love, and a willingness

 to be transformed by others.

Quality meals for all Colorado kids

First let the children eat all they want

(Mark7:27 NIV)

This November, Colorado voters can ensure access to free, nutritious meals made with quality ingredients for all students in public schools by voting YES on the Healthy School Meals for All ballot initiative, Prop FF.

Where will the money come from to pay for it?

By using what’s known as community eligibility, using eligibility for programs like Medicaid and food stamps to count children in poverty, rather than relying on families filling out applications for subsidized lunches, Colorado school districts could get the federal government to cover more meals for more students.

And by eliminating certain tax deductions for high-income filers — individuals earning more than $300,000 and couples earning more than $600,000 — the proposal would bring in an estimated $100 million a year in new state money to cover the rest of the cost, according to a fiscal analysis.

  • The combined revenue sources would allow participating school districts to serve meals to all students at no cost to their families. The proposal also would provide funds to buy healthy local foods, raise wages for food service workers, upgrade equipment, and train workers to prepare healthy meals, supporters said.
