October Spotlight - Dr. Tess Kilwein, Ph.D., ABPP, Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Kilwein is a board-certified clinical psychologist practicing in California, Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming. They are the founder of Tess M. Kilwein, LLC, which provides clinical services, consultation, and training in the areas of trauma/PTSD, substance use/addiction, masculinity, sexuality, transgender and gender expansive healthcare, sport and performance psychology, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition to providing clinical and consultative services, they are also active in clinical research examining risk behaviors (e.g., substance use, sexual behaviors) and community activism/organizing, particularly at the intersection of mental health and physical health, identity, and policing. In Laramie, Dr. Kilwein serves on the City of Laramie Board of Health and the executive team of the Albany County Mental Health Board and Laramie Reproductive Health board of directors. Nationally, they are the Wyoming State Representative for the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Council of Representatives and a member of the APA Committee on Rural Health.




Meet Brittany Brigham! Our new Project Coordinator at the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND)



Brittany has lived in Laramie the majority of her life and has grown to love Wyoming. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2015 with her bachelor’s degree in psychology and social sciences, and then graduated with her master’s degree in social work from Colorado State University in 2019. During her graduate program, Brittany completed her internship at Peak Wellness Center where she conducted clinical assessments and co-facilitated a substance abuse treatment group. She also completed her second internship at the Laramie Middle School working with students and their families to address their needs. 

Prior to joining the WIND team, Brittany worked as a Learning and Development Specialist at an insurance company where she assisted with delivering trainings and creating e-Learning materials. She was president of the company's Giving Inspiration Through Volunteering (GIV) Committee during 2020, and has a lot of experience coordinating food drives and promoting non-profit volunteer initiatives. 

Brittany enjoys reading and writing in her spare time, as well as spending time with her family.
Telehealth Coordinator Training

Starting January 17, 2023.

This 16-week course provides a comprehensive review of the clinical, operational, regulatory and ethics of telehealth service delivery. Students will learn core concepts to support the implementation of telehealth projects and engage in the use of telehealth technologies for healthcare delivery.

Online, self-paced, weekly instructor check-ins
Basic proficiency level in MS Office Suite and medical terminology recommended.

Cost is $999. Grant funding may be available to qualifying businesses and organization. Application deadline is December 2, 2022.

Wyoming Young Adult Survey

The Wyoming Department of Health is opening a survey to assess substance use and other health-related behaviors among Wyoming young adults. The survey is open to Wyoming residents aged 18 to 29 and will remain open through December.

The survey measures substance use and other health-related behaviors, is anonymous, does not record personally identifying information, and should take approximately 15 minutes. Participants who complete the survey will be able to enter a drawing for one of twenty-five $25 gift cards and one of two $100 gift cards.

Wyoming Telehealth Consortium
The Wyoming Telehealth Consortium is the central meeting space to discuss the programs, success/challenges, and discuss ideas on improving the use of telehealth in the state. The Consortium meets on the last Tuesday of every month, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Anyone interested in building telehealth is encouraged to attend.

The Community Health SIG is expanding! Now called Community Health and Chronic Disease Prevention, it now will encompass chronic health issues as well.
