Two Exemplary College-Bound Graduates

This week we are focusing on two graduates from Natomas and Discovery High whose hard work is paying off. Congratulations to both of them. Job well done! We will continue featuring graduates from all of our high schools throughout this graduation season.
Kaydee Manikhong
Natomas High School
UC Berkeley

Kaydee Manikhong will attend UC Berkeley in the fall to study psychology. A leader on campus, she received the Seal of Biliteracy and was an AP Capstone student. She will graduate with a 4.3 GPA.
Costello White
Discovery High School
ARC

Costello White will attend American River College to study psychology. He is a voice and advocate for Discovery High School. He is excited about furthering his education to fulfill his dreams.

NUSD Student rowing his way to the top

Congratulations to Elliott Gough of Inderkum High School, and his teammates for winning gold in their rowing event at the Southwest Regional Championships. "He works so hard in the sport of Rowing with River City rowing Club (West Sacramento), in addition to being a straight-A student in the IB Scholars program," explains his mother Jennifer. Gough and teammates will head to Florida in June, qualifying for the US Rowing Nationals. We are proud of this NUSD Freshman for proving his success in academics and athletics. Gough is pictured second from the right in the photo below.
Two Inderkum Students take home 3rd place in 2022 StudentCam competition

Mr. Bornstein selected as Natomas Unified's 2022 Teacher of the Year

Please help us congratulate Mr. Bornstein, Natomas Unified's 2022 Teacher of the Year! On the morning of May 13, district administrators and fellow staff members surprised Mr. Bornstein from Paso Verde School, the 2022 District Teacher of the Year, in his classroom. We are thankful for Mr. Bornstein’s 7 years of service to NUSD. Watch the surprise take place in the video below.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Multilingual students honored at special event

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Natomas Unified proudly recognized our multilingual students, including our State Seal of Biliteracy earners and students who have reclassified this school year. Proud parents, guardians, relatives, and NUSD staff gathered at Natomas High School for the festivities that included awards, games, food, entertainment, and raffles. Celebrating biliteracy is consistent with the district's Core Belief that, "Our diversity is a strength." Watch the video below for highlights.
