Volunteer Spotlights

None of what we do would be possible without our volunteers!

Every month we will highlight members of our wonderful volunteer community.

Marion Winfrey is extremely passionate about her volunteer work with The Salem Pantry and the essential right to food. She volunteers her time at multiple mobile sites throughout the week.

Steve Bennett is a highly reliable and dedicated volunteer. He has become a staple of the warehouse team, taking on some of the earliest morning and heavy lifting shifts multiple times a week.

Marion Winfrey

"I believe in public service. However it fits into your life, find some way to be a participating member of the community of humanity that we are all members of... Unlike my service on hospital and health center boards, Salem Pantry is an unfiltered interaction between me and those who have yet to experience freedom from want. It is such a basic human freedom, but it is a freedom that is far to elusive for too damn many - and that pisses me off!"

Steve Bennett

"I volunteer because food insecurity is a big and unfortunately growing issue. The staff truly supports and show appreciation for the work and contribution of the volunteers.

This is such a rewarding experience for me in that I think I get more out of it than I give!"
