Primex Plastics Corporation becomes first supplier facility to achieve SGP certification

SGP is pleased to announce that the Primex Plastics Corporation facility in Reedsburg, WI is the first supplier facility to become SGP certified. Primex is the leader in custom extruded plastic sheet and roll products. 

SGP has been certifying print facilities since 2008. To continue to meet the needs of the industry, SGP announced the expansion of the certification program to include suppliers. Read more
Syracuse Label & Surround Printing validates sustainability leadership via certification
The SGP Partnership, the leading authority in sustainable certification for the printing industry, announced today Syracuse Label & Surround Printing of North Syracuse, NY has achieved its sustainability certification. A recognized leader in sustainability, the company offers digital and flexographic printing solutions with a product portfolio that includes pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, cartons, hang tags, roll fed-wrap labels and other custom-made printed products. “We are so excited to receive SGP certification and are proud of our environmental commitment,” said Kathy Alaimo, Syracuse Label & Surround Printing president. “This certification differentiates us from our competitors and makes a significant difference when competing for talent.” Read more
Meyers commits to carbon neutrality by 2024

SGP certified Meyers, one of the country’s most innovative leaders in branded packaging, product labeling, and retail in-store display systems for global companies, has stepped up its deep commitment to sustainability by moving forward with a pledge to being carbon neutral within its operations by 2024.

It’s sometimes unfairly blamed for killing trees and other environmental damage. Not true. Modern printing can be very eco-friendly and print service providers make sure they run their companies sustainably. Here are some things you may not know about green printing.

The Pandemic Didn’t Stop REI from Pushing Forward on the Circular Economy
REI, an SGP Brand Leader and certified facility, has long enjoyed a reputation of selling quality, high-end gear for serious outdoor adventurers. The brand’s stores are a nature-lover’s paradise, with an abundance of equipment for camping, hiking, climbing, cycling, running, swimming and more. Now, within the retail sector, REI is well on its way to becoming a major player in the circular economy.
As the largest consumer co-op in the U.S., some of REI’s profits go back to its customers through membership rewards. As for its retail employees, benefits include healthcare, a retirement plan, sick leave and vacation time. Today, the brand credits itself as one of the first major retailers to sell used gear and rentals. In 2021 alone, REI grew its used gear revenue by 86 percent from the previous year. And on the social sustainability side, REI recently launched a fund that it says will help to promote racial equity in the outdoors. Read more in Triple Pundit
