February is really active here at the library.  We've got some mini-golf to help out the Friends and what better way to shake off the cabin fever than a round of golf.  Our Oscar series will be in full swing with movies all month right up until the awards so check out some of the nominees before the big night.  Later in the month we'll have a program devoted to learning about meteors and meteorites and how they affect us here on Earth.  Something for everyone and books and DVD's too.  Check out this and more by reading below

See you soon,

M ini Golf fundraiser re-scheduled...It's On!!
Sunday February 17 10am-4pm

Due to the inclement weather, the Friends postponed the 3rd Annual Indoor Miniature Golf Tournament until Sunday, February 17th. So mark your calendar for this new date and come challenge your family and friends to a round of golf. The event will run from 10:00AM to 4:00PM and the 18-hole course is located throughout the library. Check out the drawing items and snacks located in the Garden Room at the lower level of the Library. Cost is $5.00 per person. All proceeds of the event benefit Phase II of our Garden Project. For more information call 978-686-4080 ext. 31.

News from the Children's Room

February may be a short month, but that doesn't mean the Children's Room isn't holding as many great programs as usual! Besides lots of storytimes for children, plus our book group and Trivia program, we have a very special event for school vacation week: the New England Aquarium will be visiting with its Traveling Tidepool on February 20! Bring your kids for this exciting hands-on session, where they can learn about and interact with local tide pool animals.

Also, once again we're teaming up with the Boston Bruins for a pajama drive this year - if you'd like to help, please bring your donations of brand new children's pjs to the Children's Department between February 1 to March 15. Thank you!

Asteroids: Friends or Foes
February 28 7pm

What are Asteroids? How are Asteroids and Meteorites related? What can we learn about Asteroids from the missions that NASA and JAXA (Japanese Space Exploration program) are readying to land on asteroids? Not to mention, when might one of them strike Earth with enough force to create widespread damage?

Join us as Kelly Beatty helps us explore the science (and science fiction) surrounding asteroids. Examples of meteorites will be on display as well.

Mahjongg @ Nevins Library

We will hold our Second Mahjongg Program on Wednesday, Februar y 6 at 10am.  We had a great turnout of new players in January, and are excited to continue learning this game in good company!  Players of all experience levels are welcome.  Please bring a "scoring card" if you happen to have one, but the library has a couple to share.
