Weekly Update from Holy Faith Church - June 5, 2023

A Prayer for Pride Month as We Celebrate God’s Love & Grace for All People

God, who made us in Your image, teach us to love all people as You love us. God, who

made us in Your image, allow us to show that image to the world. God who made us in

Your image, help us to see Your image in all those we meet. God, who made us in

Your image, teach us to conserve and protect all Your creation. Amen

SERVICE

Drive Our Recycling to Recycle Ann Arbor

Thank you to everyone who is bringing in Styrofoam to recycle and to keep out of our landfills. Doing so cuts down on emissions.

Volunteers are needed to bring our Styrofoam and soft plastic for recycling, June to December. You may sign up for a 2-week increment on the bulletin board in church, or by contacting Vicki English via email at: vjj01@live.com

Volunteers can pick up the free pass to get into Recycle Ann Arbor (which is tacked to the bulletin board).

Please contact Vicki if you have questions or would like to learn more.

Serve as a Sunday Morning Usher

Ever wanted to be an usher, but didn't know what is involved or who to contact?

Ushers serve approximately once every six weeks, greeting people and helping with communion. An additional component will include marshaling a response to an emergency in the unlikely event that one occurs.

Volunteers will meet for three trainings, including AED and CPR training.

Contact Pastor Andrea with any questions or for more information at: andrea@holy-faith-church.org

Help Tend the Vegetable Garden. Pull Up Weeds. See Immediate Results

Last week the Garden Buddies planted tomatoes, sweet peppers, and flowers. Our little cucumber shoots are peeking up! Thanks especially to Judy for donating some homegrown tomato plants, and to Adam from Coleman’s Farm Market for helping us pick out a variety of sweet peppers and tomatoes!

The Garden Buddies invite you to help weed the garden this month on Monday evenings at 6 PM. Experience the satisfaction of clearing the ground of some weeds and enjoying fellowship, while knowing that you are doing good. No experience necessary!

The harvest goes to Saline Area Social Services to help feed local families.

Volunteer at SASS’s Family Fun Fair, June 24th, 11 am - 1 pm

With funds from the Lenten coin drive and the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, Holy Faith is sponsoring the Fed Up Food Truck for SASS’s upcoming Family Fun Fair. Our contribution is funding BBQ Chicken Sliders, Cole Slaw, Sweet Potato Fries, and Lemonade for 70 people. The Fed Up Food Truck is a ministry of the ELCA SEMI Synod, run and operated by Pastor Anna Taylor-McCants.

If you would like to help take orders that day, or run plates of food from the truck to the people, contact Pastor Andrea: andrea@holy-faith-church.org

June 1st Marks the Beginning of Pride Month

This event is hosted by the PLT, especially for Ministry Team (Committee) Leaders and their team members. The topic: Calendaring and Coordination.

We’ll begin with remarks by Pastor Andrea and/or the PLT, including notes about upcoming events. Then we’ll share a meal. Afterwards, Ministry teams will meet for their own planning. All parishioners are invited, even if you just want to come for the opening remarks and meal.

A-H -- salad or side dish

I-L -- bread or rolls with butter

M-R -- 2-Liter bottles (or equivalent) of drinks

The PLT hopes that these quarterly gatherings will provide fellowship, fun, and tools for ministry.
