Weekly Director Letter 05/20/2022
Dear Parents,

This has been a difficult week at Kids For Kids Academy and I thank my staff for doing everything possible to make sure all ran smoothly here for our students. A month or so ago, we have 2 staff and 4 kids in Purple/Orange with COVID. This week we had 1 staff and 5 children in Silver/Gold Doors with COVID. In Gold Door we had 11 of the 22 kids stay home with flu-like symptoms or positive COVID results. It appears this strain is hitting more kids than the prior ones as we are seeing more and more cases.

Also worth noting, many of our oldest kids are no longer coming to school with a mask as they are now optional. It might be worth reconsidering for those who stopped wearing them. Please also keep in mind that if we alert you that your child has been exposed to COVID and you test them that day, chances are good that they will not show up positive. We will continue to alert any rooms with a positive case. If you are alerted, you should wait 3 days AFTER being told to test your child. Please let us know as you test if your child is positive and when they tested that way.

Kids testing positive must stay out of school for 5 days FOLLOWING the positive test. So if positive on a Monday, day 1 of the quarantine starts on Tuesday. If your child has been exposed and has no symptoms, they do not need to test. We are asking however if your child is exposed and comes to school, that they please wear a mask for a few days until we are sure they are not positive. This is to keep our teachers and other children safe. I thank you for your understanding in this matter.

This week we passed out envelopes for the year-end teacher gift collection. Thank you to everyone who so generously turned in envelopes or asked us to bill your Brightwheel account. As mentioned, participation in this is optional. We will finish the collection on June 5th so that we can disperse the gifts to staff on the last day of school.

This week invitations went home for the VPK and K-2 year-end activities. If you have any questions, please be sure to ask.  Next week I will be posting the summer/fall room assignments. Please remember we are closed on Friday, June 10th to prepare our school for the summer session. By the end of next week, I should also have the camp calendars up. We have a great summer of fun waiting just around the corner. Please also mark your calendars for our closure on Monday, May 30th in honor of Memorial Day.

Finally, a huge hug goes out to the parents of Purple and Orange Door for the AMAZING teacher appreciation lunch held yesterday.

Have a fabulous weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
