Kelli Forde Spiers, executive director, basic needs & Title V Grant Project director and Scott Bennett, associate vice president of Student Services, have been tapped to participate in the Texas Success Center Leadership Academy. As 2023-24 Fellows for the first cohort, Bennett and Forde Spiers will collaborate with other college leaders to expand their understanding of student success and change management.
Fran Parent, executive director of Industrial & Construction Technologies, won the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)/Construction & Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF) Workforce Development Outstanding College Partner award for 2023. Parent's outstanding leadership and innovative approach to workforce development at Lee College is what earned her this prestigious award.
Credit rating services Moody's Investors Service and Standard & Poor's (S&P) have upgraded Lee College's bond rate. Pete Alfaro, who has been a member of the Lee College Board of Regents since 2006, stepped back from service on June 1. Alfaro is a community legend. In addition to being a regent, he was the first Hispanic to be elected mayor of Baytown, a role in which he held for 11 years. Alfaro's colleagues on the board will appoint a successor to fill his position until his term expires in May 2025. Thank you for your service, Regent Alfaro.
